Hello guys,

I'm Portuguese (32) and I'm not sure if I've asperger syndrome. Well, if I'm here is because I suspect that, but I don't want an auto-diagnosis because I could be just a hypochondriasis (about mental illness). :) I heard about asperger only 3 or 4 years ago in a news about Messi and I identify myself a little bit but... yeah, I can live with that. Even if I am, I don't think I'm comfortable share this info... even with family.

I don't have identify every aspects related with Aspergers like sensorial, I'm not sensible to light or noise... on this aspect, I feel ASMR (but this is not related with autism, at least what we know for now). But I identify much things like relationships (friends or love), interests or little aspects like not a good facial reader, very good in maths at basic school, when I was teenager I liked to memorized capitals from USA (who's cares in Europe about that? haha), etc...

But my main concern here is: diagnosis is objective or subjective? Like, is based only in my answers or is based on other analysis? (because I can misslead a doctor with answers, right?).

What kind of doctor/therapist should I go? Anyone from Portugal?

Diagnosis is subjective. It probably would be based on tests, clinician observation, school records, and possibly structured interviews with your family about when you were a child.

Well, it isn't the answer I like to hear, but maybe I already expected since I didn't find anything about that. So, we can be missdiagnosis with asperger or even autism, right? My (or family/friends) answers can change the result, right?
