Every time I see something about neurodiversity, it's mainly about autism. I thought neurodiversity was supposed to be about all sorts of different brains.

I am concerned about telling people that I'm neurodivergent because they may assume that I am autistic, but I don't want to say that I have a central auditory processing deficit either because no one knows what that is (and it's a super long term).

Neurodiversity is strongly associated with autism these days, for better or for worse.

It's up to us to change that.

I have both aspie traits and NT traits and to me....I'm neurodiverse ....but then again I consider the entire human race as neurodiverse... :D

That's like saying "marriage equality" should focus less on giving rights to LGBT people and focus more on straight peoples' marriage rights (which doesn't make any sense since they are already recognized. The world already accepts neurotypicals so it makes sense that neurodiversity would focus on those of us who aren't neurotypical.

What? Nobody said that neurodiversity should focus on NTs.

Oh. Well in that case I think the reason so much emphasis is placed on autism is that the prevalence is so much higher than a lot of other things. Also it's much more complicated than something like ADHD.
