Anyone ever have the issue of not knowing how autistic (or aspersion) they really are, and therefore never quite sure how or when to disclose this information to potential employers? I'm on a new trajectory now, living in Japan, and about to start looking for ESL jobs. I am confident I can succeed, and prepared if I don't, but I'd like to make the best choices I can before diving in.

Comments or suggestions are welcome.

If it were me, I would not disclose.
There's way too much prejudice out there.

In the past, I've tried disclosing to acquaintances in the hopes they'd better understand me.
Big mistake.
They either made light of it, started treating me like I was crazy, or avoided me like I had a contagious disease.

Bottom line: You can lose your job before you even start if you disclose.

We are all autistic
Tough to figure out how "severe" we are because we can be very affected in one skill and less in another one and it can vary from day to day.

I agree. I don't think it would be good to disclose the fact you have Asperger's if you are on a new life track. I have been taking care not to disclose any information, such as my real name, on this board that could prejudice an interviewer against me. I can't afford to lose everything I have tried to build over the last couple of years.

I agree. Don't disclose. A useless exercise.
