Following my latest meeting with my psychiatrist (in which my diagnosis was confirmed!) I'm beginning to wonder if I may have mild alexithymia... Can anyone with diagnosed AS/ASD and alexithymia give an insight as to what this is like? I have no idea what's 'normal'!
Also, could childhood difficulties lead to something that may 'look' like alexithymia?

First, to define the term... Alexithymia = "difficulty in experiencing, expressing, and describing emotional responses."
I've only ever experienced failure to express happy/excitement to the satisfaction of others. So, I don't think that qualifies. Therefore I recommend Amythest's video for far better insight.

"Dissociative disorder" could be a topic for further reading. Only a professional can diagnose you properly though. Otherwise this should only be taken as for education/interest only.
