Sorry if that question is a bit harsh. For example: Me and 20 neurotypicals sit in a room and watch a very weird movie. Nothing good or bad, just weird. My reaction will be WAY different than the norm, almost completely unique to my personality, and I feel like this is either a good thing or a bad thing, what would you say?

For anyone who doesn't understand, another example is my view of foreign cultures. Most people are disgusted or in culture shock, but I view them as manifestations of my own view of the world from a different location, also I don't really literally think that, I just enjoy them (their music and art and that) especially the good ones even though most people find them weird.

I don't think it's weird to be fascinated by other cultures.

I think it's weird to want to do away with other cultures.

I have learned that I am not as unique as I thought I was when I was younger.

Considering I disagree with everyone on just about everything.

It's kind of annoying, because often I feel like they just disagree with me for the sake of argument more than anything else.

I'm absolutely fascinated by foreign cultures, particularly the countries of origin of my favorite tennis players. Right now, I'm reading a lot about Russia and Uzbekistan because of Denis Istomin. I have been looking up articles about Russia, Uzbekistan, Orenburg (Denis' birthplace) and Tashkent (where he grew up).

Someone once showed me the famous Rorschach inkblot test where
you're supposed to see either
an old lady or a young woman.

Instead, I saw a
fire-breathing dragon
at the base of a volcano. :)

Viewing cultural differences as manifestations of your own view of the world in another location sounds really cool 8O

When I look at those inkblots, nothing comes to mind at all. What does that mean? :|

I would say it means that you are very "matter of fact".

I've been told I have strange thoughts and recently someone who I had been talking to online for three years told me he can tell I have more going on than just language and one of the things was my thinking.

Let them be disgusted/shocked, because you cannot control their level of acceptance of difference. Just remember to coexist.

You can enjoy anything you want just because you are you. Who cares what they think. Cultural Appropriation is on those people's minds. So in reality, there is one overlapping culture with no name/label that reaches over other cultures. I believe we have not realized that cultures are only separate paradigms created by larges masses of people. We have differences, just not to the point that a culture defines an individual and said individuals. It will never define one's way of thinking the same way cultures/cults fantasize.

In fact, I personally think calling our said peers "NEUROTYPICALS" is awfully similar to cultural appropriation, having to constantly call them that.

For someone who is very proud to be left-wing and socialist I have opinions not accepted by many left-wingers, some of these leaning libertarian or even conservative.

I also tend to be very strong in my opinions.

As for the culture thing, I don't think many NTs are "disgusted" by foreign cultures unless it's something we find disgusting in our own, for example eating dog or horse meat. In fact, I prefer foreign cultures to the dominant Anglo-Saxon one where I live.

yeah.. part of it is just that i'm a contrarian, but i do have an alternative way of thinking which isn't unusual in autists really.
i'm very much 'anti-PC', that alone is a weird opinion these days. (maybe not so much on some parts of the internet but still).

Try researching 3 stages of culture shock....maybe what you're experiencing is just normal human reaction to foreign cultures.... :D
