I have had an intense interest in laws for a long time. I love the law, even though I disagree with some laws. I think the law is very interesting, and so I aim to abide by the law to the letter of the law, even when it is inconvenient for me. Why? Because the law is the law, and if I don't like it, I can work to change it.

Does anyone else like laws? Does anyone else, at least occasionally, read laws for fun? I think it is fun to pull up the criminal statutes on my state legislature's website and look at them. Does anyone else get the same joy from that?

I've been there. I've gotten bored and read up on my state statutes. I too, generally obey the law. I smoke pot which is legal in my state, but never while driving or working. I tend to drive a little faster than I should, my road is posted 45mph, I'm right at home around 60. Got a ticket for 81 on a 70mph highway. Against everyone's advice that I should take it to court, I just paid it. I was speeding, I got caught, sh** happens. I'm not going to disrespect a judge, and waste the court's time to try to get out of a $130 ticket. All things considered, I consider myself reasonably law abiding.

I've never had an intense interest in the law, but I've always followed politics, and my congressmen/women closely. If I have to vote for one of them, I want to be as informed as possible.

What interests me is that most laws are routinely broken, but there is another factor that causes selective enforcement. One also expects laws to be absolute, but somehow the odds favour the more expensive legal team.
