I'm at college doing Travel & Tourism but i have seen a job come up for a learning support assistant at a college. I think i would be excellent at this but i don't know what to do? Should i apply for the job or stay at college and risk not getting the job

I'd go for it. The work is more socially useful and probably more secure. You get real-world experience. School can be returned to if you change your mind.

Can you find out how much this job pays?

Do you have hopes/plans for the future?

Is the assistant position really a dead end job in which you can never advance?

What was your reason for taking Travel & Tourism? Are they be preparing you for a bright future? How are you doing in learning this business? Will you be abandoning this direction/goal?

If you have to leave a position as a support assistant will this be an easy position to get hired back into elsewhere? Maybe, in it's entirety, this is not such a hot prospect after all.

If you loose a position in a Travel & Tourism office how easy would it be to become reemployed at another office? There are certainly a great many Travel & Tourism businesses about with many more opportunities for employment.

If you believe you would be ideal for a learning assistant position, I'd say to go for it. It sounds as though you believe it would be much more interesting and rewarding than what you are currently studying. I'd go with that instinct.
