I am noticing that i am more stressed because i am becoming more obsessive with washing my hands and my hands being clean.

I think you are suffering from OCD. My son has this problem. He uses sanitizer very frequently.

I am not sure my symptoms are severe enough for OCD.
When i originally was assessed for mental health issues and ASD it was noted as "mild OCD" (although they didnt put it as a diagnosis as it wasnt really impairing my quality of life or bothering my life)
It is very important for me, although my hands start feeling "dirty" more often (i know they arent dirty, but they feel dirty and i go wash them).
My hands are very dry, red and sore from the hand washing (my skin is sensitive and during the winter especially).

If you feel compelled to was your hands so frequently that they are becoming irritated, it is a sign that there is something wrong. Furthermore, the compulsion to wash your hands is obviously quite strong if you will do it despite painful irritation to that area. I suggest that you see a doctor about it.

Sounds legit to me, humans can be very unsanitary.

+1

Nipping OCD in the bud is ever so much easier than dealing with a full-blown disorder. If your doctor ignores it, tell him a friend with experience told you this.

+1 means that another person thinks the exact same thing. In other words, FandomConnection was spot on, so there was no need to add to her reasoning.

i was thinking about this a bit more; in the case that I feel something has been said, I would usually move on and not comment. The +1 comment is most useful when people disagree, and you'd like to add your 'vote' to the discussion without confusing the OP further.

There are plenty here with OCD and OCD-like tendencies, and some will tell you that unhealthy behavior is just normal because they do it themselves. But FandomConnection's analysis is a good description of the difference between normal and unhealthy.
