Do you ever get the feeling that you'll meet someone again..
. and do?
I wanted to, and just felt like I would, meet one of my sailing instructors again, at a place other than the yacht club or anything to do with sailing. I did... he was working in a clothing store near where I lived!
I also wanted to, and got the feeling that I would, meet my grade 7 science teacher (also my grade 7 and 8 religion teacher) someplace other than anything to do with school, and years later, she was volunteering at the veterans' hospital I was volunteering at! Furthermore, the one time I decided to go to a certain borough of Montreal, to a certain street (I normally didn't even go in that borough) at a certain time, I met her walking down the street!
Now I feel like one day I may meet some of my old school enemies again... I don't want to though! Also, I feel like I'll meet the people whose convention I crashed years ago... interesting. I also feel like I might talk to or meet my old elementary school friends again, and will eventually meet MADDuck, perhaps sooner than I think!

Enjoyed that video clip!
Then, there's the flip side. I've encountered some I HOPE to God (minus the religious aspect) I NEVER meet again. Have you ever had an appt/meeting with someone, then they say something like, "Let's meet again, when's good for you?" I'm thinking (inside my head), "How about NEVER? Is never good for you?"
Then, there's my face blindness (long word beginning with the letter 'P'), in which I may have indeed met someone very nice! Next time, I (stupidly) respond, "Who are you? Why are you in my lab?" Invariably they're nonplussed. I have the best excuse in the world too, "Oh, I'm autistic."
No wonder social interaction is, um, awkard for HFA/Aspies.

There is nobody on top of my head I would like to run into. I do run into people in the past and try my best to dodge out of sight. Though sometimes I get caught and then they will start a conversation which can be annoying. Right along with "LabPet" "lets meet again or hang out".... my thoughts in my head are very similar to "LabPet..
What sucks is I run into people I would never want to run into. Such as 5 months ago I ran into a school Bully of mine in high school. Like its been 7 years how does this crap happen to me. Which was extremely awkward and no way out do to the fact we met under a situation where he wanted to rent a family members condo. I just so happen to be the one showing the place at that time.

Yeah, I've got this too, which is what I was implying with my last sig. I actually just tell folks straight up, I have "partial face blindness", rather than try to tie it in with autism; I wonder which is a clearer explanation? I'm well known for being rather insistent about having thumbnail pictures of the people who I work with, which I associate with their e-mail accounts so a thumbnail is displayed. Three times now, my boss's boss's boss has passed me in the hall and said, "Hi, Ryan!", and then he passes on while I stand there with a dumb look on my face trying to figure out who he is.
I've also wondered about a correlation between autism/AS and prosopagnosia. Particularly with respect to autism, I know there is a commonly noted threat response from eye contact; I suspect that may interfere with autistic folks for committing faces to memory, either by the threat response itself interfering with engram encoding directly when an autistic looks at someone else's face, or indirectly through the general inclination to avoid really looking at the other person's face at all (and I've heard of various ways in which people do this).
For me, meeting people for the first time in general is something that just slips right out of my memory; I don't remember the faces, I don't remember the names, I don't remember the details. I know some folks at MIT have been working on wearable computer system that includes facial recognition assistance for people with various mental and memory problems; basically you wear a camera and a display screen (which may be something as small as in a pair of glasses, and when the camera picks up a face, it runs a pattern in a database that includes details about the person and then displays those details automatically. THAT would be awesome to have.
Good fortune,
- Icarus is glad you enjoyed the vid...

Please forgive me if, in the heat of battle, I sometimes forget which side I'm on.
I tend to run into the same people over and over again. Sometimes I'll lose touch with someone (never calling them back, usually) only to run into them again because strangely we shared a mutual friend and didn't even know it.
Though there was this one person in particular I wished I would stop running into. This individual was particularly disturbed, to say the least. Coming into my house at night and watching me sleep, telling everyone I was his girlfriend- that kind of "fun" stuff. Haven't seen him for awhile. It's a good thing!
A couple of months ago, I was cashiering and some young men came through my line buying beer. So of course I card the one that was making the purchase- I was stunned. I asked him if he recognized me and he said no- I told him and it jogged his memory. We dated back in the sixth grade, fought viciously with each other for the next two and half years, and he moved way up north to Sacramento. It was just a weird feeling- of all the towns, grocery stores, and checkstands- he ended up in mine? WEIRD.
I'm fascinated by coincidences in general and bumping into people out of the blue
and against all odds is something that happens to me quite often.I've started
making up a file to record the circumstances to see what patterns there are.In some cases I've had premonitions about certain people and then the next day I'll see them completely by chance in a crowded place. I recently met a former colleague that
I'd lost touch with, when I was coming home from work and decided to hang around for a later train than usual.I saw my acquaintance in the station just yards from
me amid the hundreds of people. It turned out that although she lives and works in
a different area she just happened to be in town on the particular day I went for a different train.

That's so true!
Also, I sometimes get the feeling that I'm going to run into somebody - a classmate, for instance - and seconds later, I do. It's like I have a premonition of their presence. Or I sense someone following me and imagine who it could be, and when I turn around, it's that exact person...Creepy. LOL.
I had an unusual run-in a couple months ago. I was at Dulles waiting for a flight to Charlotte, where I would later catch a connecting flight home. As I sat down at the gate to wait for the flight, I saw the back of a girl's head some distance away, which reminded me of a girl who's a regular at the bar I usually go to. I figured that it was unlikely to be her (1100 miles away at an airport with no direct flights home), and began to read. About 5 minutes later, here she comes towards me, waving. It was her, catching the same flight and the same connecting flight back.
I know very few people, let alone by the back of their head, so it seemed pretty unusual.
