Like what do you search for within your interests. I see a lot of people looking for obscure things but why? My focus is in a general view and I don't know why that is (But then again I have 3 interests in total, 1 of them is highly obscure things and another is slightly more general, while the 3rd is the most general (because its about the entire universe and existence)).

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, because it's never been apparent to me why a special interest becomes a special interest of mine

I think my biggest interests are all related to finding complex answers/solutions for questions that seem paradoxical. I remember as a child I was so different and depressed, so I trawled through a Family Health Book trying to find diseases/conditions which caused "frequent crying" (haha, funny thinking back on it that I didn't understand depression). The book had a new medical condition and accompanying illustration on each page. This spurred a lifelong passion for medical science

Other interests have been accountancy, in an attempt to set myself up financially for life. Relationships and related psychology (for .. somewhat obvious reasons). Existentialism, quantum theory (related to existentialism), and ASD. I was also obsessed with health & fitness for many years after being overweight as a child.

So I guess I am trying to fix problems or find answers, that's what drives my interests.

What do I search for? Peace, quiet, purpose and the next good book to read.

Confrontation, debate, knowledge, history, safety, chance to advocate for something.

On the Internet: cats, medical topics (including autism/Asperger's) and tennis. My favorite players to research are Rafael Nadal and Denis Istomin

I search for collectables, usually Pop vinyls relating to my interests but I also collect Tsum Tsum and amiibo.

I also collect Pokémon merchandise and have been since 1999.

For me, there just needs to be a lot of information on the topic, and I need to have an interest in it (don't know what the criteria are for that). I don't think my special interests are very obscure.

The answers to questions that most people generally do not ask about the universe (both big and small) are what I am seeking. Many just tend to accept the results and go on, never wandering "Why does that occur the way it does?". I want to know the real truth of the matter (and anti-matter).

Knowledge, the chance to learn, new experiences and the best Panang curry.

Specifically I do a lot of botanical research involving the relation of plant distributions to geology.

The Truth.

Seriously.
While I'm studying myself and others for learning's sake...
Most at the time, I search for 'tricks' within a skill. I search for things that 'clicks' me and see how can I apply it.
It comes with time and various circumstances. So to search them, I have to go out and do it than just think about it.
And more things that I could possibly do with my self and around me. Whatever I might end up experiencing, discovering, or end up doing.

I'm not much of an item or knowledge hoarder, it just 'adds' on my 'to see/do/try/feel/possibly replicate it list', no matter what absurd.

Whatever I need/want at the time. Most recently I googled my favourite chocolate that's no longer available in local stores. Previously I was researching cars I may like to buy in the Spring & have all but settled on a Ford Flex so long as I like it when I test drive one.

This describes all of my favourite movies. I just call them "Underdog Stories." It's also the story of my life after having figured out how to treat my ASD symptoms a few years ago. 8)

I have a habit of filling my hard drive up with music and movies, never listening to or watching most of them, reformatting my hard drive and doing it all over again. I've been doing this for well over a decade now. It drives me insane sometimes.
