Do you think people with autism are more prone to frustration?
How do you feel about an autism support site that constantly crashes?
On a level of 1 to 10 how frustrated do you feel every time you see this?:

I have noticed that WP and windows 10 Edge browser do NOT get along, I have to use IE to see wrong planet as it just locks up my puter when I use edge. l'd appreciate somebody explaining this sometime.

On your scale, it would be a 5, I guess.

1 (although I'd prefer 0)

I don't have to pay the server bills or have any other form of monetary investment in the site so I'm just happy it's here and works most of the time. If the site's down then I wait, do something else and try again a little later.

That's not to say I don't get frustrated. I get frustrated about things that can and should be changed but aren't, people being inconsiderate and making other's lives more difficult (supermarkets being a pet peeve - a crowded, noisy, hotbed of inconsideration), bad driving that could endanger lives... I could go on :)

this. WP servers are located in eastern time locations IIRC, so it may just be regular "maintenance" on their part. dunno.

it certainly does crash at other times, and sometimes the midnight downtime lasts longer than at other times, but now that i know when it most often happens, it is less stressful.

i like knowing. uncertainty is something i have always striven to avoid.

but yes, i've come to expect this so my frustration is at a....2.

Frustration level 7. It always logs me out when this happens.

I experience both the crash and the relog.

It is slightly frustrating, because typically the only time I have to post-- like, 10:30-11 Central Time-- is when it crashes. :skull:

I have gotten used to it, though, so it is only about.. a 4.

That is a software issue where the WP software would seem to be in need of some additional coding. Making any website compatible for all browsers at once can be a nightmare, and apparently the coders of the WP software have yet to catch up with Edge.

As to WP downtime: I am surprised to see Alex is using shared hosting for WP rather than using a VPN or dedicated server, but how much to spend is his decision to make.

It appears to me that Alex contracts with a server farm to use one server. So, when it is backing up (or doing other work), the site stalls for a few minutes. Paying for two servers would allow one of them to back up in real time while user data remains active on the second server. I can't blame him, though, as that would increase operational costs. And, as more Internet (and WP) users learn to avoid most of the common non-essential quantifying system and advertisment applications, any remaining revenue shared with the content providers (customers like WP) must be minimal. But, I am simply presuming. I don't really know why the site is offline so frequently (especially in the early morning hours), unless the ability to back up is limited.

My VPN at BlueHost has two (2) nameservers, but WP's "Enterprise Shared Hosting" has five (5):
auth10.sliqua.com
auth11.sliqua.com
auth12.sliqua.com
auth13.sliqua.com
auth14.sliqua.com
auth15.sliqua.com

Daily backups have never affected my own uptime, but I have no idea how things might be done at sliqua.com.

It usually starts at about a 5 , then I press back , get the page back , click on what I wanted , Error , move up to about a 7 , close browser , clear cookies and cache , open WP home page , Error , about a 9 now , FFS , If I was younger I would of put my fist through the monitor at this point, but I have learned the hard way that taking my frustration out on my appliances is expensive and painful , it is also embarrising trying to explain to a A&E nurse why you hand is broken

that seems a reasonable explanation. thanks for the insight.

Possibly, but it is not very likely. WP is sharing a server with other sites and I cannot imagine a host having a system where all sites are down during periodic backups. I would guess the problem is related to server load.

edit: I have sent an e-mail to the host to ask what explanation they might have to offer.
