I have always thought I didn't have sensory issues because I'm usually not bothered by lights and don't have meltdowns when I'm in noisy places (though loud noises can startle and scare me sometimes). However, now I think I might have some sensory problems, only not the usual ones.

For instance, I can freak out completely if someone touches me unexpectedly, I absolutely hate to be tickled and I can't stand sitting on grass. I am also over sensitive to cold temperatures (in winter I shiver even with 4 layers of clothing and I can't stand air conditioners). I'm also over sensitive to pain (the only 2 times I tried waxing I cried, and every time I brush my hair it hurts).

I know are not the usual symptoms of SPD (undersensitivity to pain and temperatures are more common) but do you think my problems may be related to that?

Tactile sensitivity like you are describing is a big part of autism sensory problems.

Sounds like sensitivity to me.

I find grass can be really itchy on bare skin though not sure if that's tactile sensitivity or a mild allergic reaction.
I hate really tight, localised, things like blood pressure cuffs, light touch can be uncomfortable for me, and sometimes clothing tags are scratchy. I learned to dissociate when getting tickled and I absolute hate getting jabbed in any pressure points as it can bother me for quite a while after. Sometimes when something has brushed past me I'll need to rub that area. So essentially I probably have some mild, variable tactile sensitivities if you can relate to any of that?

I'm seen to be overly sensitive to hot objects which is not the norm as you say.

I remember being really bothered by the swamp cooler in my old house, I didn't like the drastic change in humidity. I seem to have developed a sensitivity to air conditioners as they can make me feel sick.

Yes, I can relate to most of it. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has these problems. I used to think I was an exaggerated crybaby to make such a fuss every time someone touches me from behind or when I go near the supermarket's refrigerators. It's good to know I'm not to blame for that, and that other people have similar problems too.
