I am a residential provider for both adults and adolescents on the spectrum. I have been managing several residential and treatment homes for the last 10 years and it's no surprise, I'm sure, to anyone on here that there are many more programs and opportunities for adolescents than adults. I'm looking to make a change, but I need a direction. What do you feel like is missing? What opportunities as an adult do you wish you had? What would be beneficial to you in leading the kind of life you want?

I want to be able to find groups in my community where people can come together and discuss there problems.

Work opportunities. The AS skill set is diverse and often very unique in very useful and effective ways. The social customs of the workplace are obstacles to application of these potential contributions. Solve that and you will have something.

I also agree about work opportunities in real job settings. I feel that everybody on the spectrum who wants to work, should be able to have a paid job in any setting that they'd want, instead of shoved into a sheltered workshop.
