Except the talents I have in math computers programming and videogames which refered to other post when I was a little I had talent in music. My mom saw this talent and when I was 6-7 years old she sent me to music conservatory in order to learn piano initially and probably other instruments. I was very good at this extremely better than other students I don't remember if I enjoyed this but my mother tell me that I enjyed this. At the end of the year music teacher separated me from other children and she said me that I will become great musician but I didn't want to become musician and then I hated this, I stopped music lessons and I didn't envolve with music after then. Now I don't play any instrument and I don't know how to read the notes I don't realy regret about it but there is a wasted talent do you have similar experience? do you have any wasted talent? is this aspie trait or am I just crazy?

Yes, because I was never allowed to develop them or show them. Whenever I had a possible chance, my mother made sure I couldn't do it. But if it was something SHE wanted me to do, she forced me to go to the lessons and threatened to take things away if I didn't go. Even if I was having a panic attack or physically sick, I still had to go. My mom didn't want me to be a "quitter" but in some things, she didn't want me to be a starter either. It wasn't until after I moved out that I was able to discover and rediscover wasted talents.

I was pretty good with the keyboard when I was only around 5 or 6. But could only play it with one hand. I lose interest in things far too easily to ever really become a master of things. I suppose i'm pretty good with computers as well as i'm constantly using them, so I pick up skills naturally, as opposed to trying to learn them.

I was on my way to becoming a scientist because I'm good at that type of thinking, but high school chemistry class turned me off to the whole thing and I became an artist instead. I still like to research things for fun, and this helps with writing both fiction and nonfiction. I'm also really good at Microsoft Excel for some reason.

Maybe. I used to be praised for my singing when I was little, and I still get compliments on my voice if I'm playing games online. I quit because I had a speech problem. But I'm looking into some easy instruments to self-teach for a new creative outlet these days.

My mother told me, "I write like a 70 year old." Apparently, that's her way of saying someone who has an experienced outlook on life. There are quite a few Aspie poets and authors out there. I prefer to stick to poetry as it's easier and less time consuming for me. I literally write words down in thirty seconds and say I'm done.

At least you're not wasting YOUR talents.

I'll probably never use it, so I'm not too sure about your statement. As for you, you'll find something. Even if you think it's an everyday thing, you may be exceptionally good at it.

Why wouldn't you use it?

Just because it might not earn you money----doesn't mean your talents have no use.

Contrary to what's "trending" today, I believe there are things which go beyond superficial usefulness. I believe in Transcendence, rather than mere reliance on the Mundane.

I wish talents were commodities that could be traded. Some people have one they're not interested in while the next person can only dream of having the skill.

My second wish would be that I had something worth trading for. :P

First thing's first, congratulations on your 200th post. Also, I'm sure you have something. If not, get out and try something new. Escape the prison known as everyday life that some of us have been suffering from, and can't help but continue to suffer. Good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it! Once in school I took a career aptitude test that suggested I'd make a dandy plumber, but it never seemed too interesting. I do know how to do some basic stuff though, which is cool.

Gotta keep looking, I guess.

I have a talent in ensuring I will be forever alone. I wouldn't mind wasting that talent.

The only real talent I have is memorizing endless amounts of useless information.

Some of this "useless information" could turn out to be useful in the end. You never know.
