I've heard it is a common echolalia trait. I myself repeat words only when I've really enjoyed something or found something really funny; it feels as if when repeating words or a full sentence, I'd savour the funniness or niceness of the words even further by vocalising them myself. It may indeed be more of an issue if it's mostly focusing on negative things, so you could perhaps discuss this in therapy too.
