Of starting threads very few people want to reply to. It's like I don't know how to post the right things.

Autism camouflaging and late diagnosis did well.

Don't we all....I find it's hit and miss. Feel like the unpopular person on Facebook sometimes.

Quote:
In ecology, r/K selection theory relates to the selection of combinations of traits in an organism that trade off between quantity and quality of offspring. The focus upon either increased quantity of offspring at the expense of individual parental investment of r-strategists, or reduced quantity of offspring with a corresponding increased parental investment of K-strategists, varies widely, seemingly to promote success in particular environments.

I guess,in fact I know, I'm insecure. Few replies has me thinking "unpopular". It's something that stems from few friends, teenage peer rejection and a chronic difficulty with fitting in .

The problem is that you've used a very small set of data to support your theory. You've also missed out posts that you've made that have been popular within the time-frame given in your example dataset (one of 15 comments, one of 55, and one of 23). Looking at your posts for this year:

You have made 52 posts since January the 1st 2017 (62 days). That's 0.83 posts per day, 10.29 comments per day, 12.26 comments per post.

This is ignoring any replies that you've made to your own posts - I may be AS but I'm not daft enough to filter all those out :)

Dude- all of those threads you started were only started in the last couple of hours.

You cant expect responses that soon.

You live in the UK. Most of the English speaking world is in North America. Ergo most people on an English language website are not gonna see any post you make until four to eight hours after you post it (ever hear of time zones, and of a little thing called the "Atlantic Ocean" that is four time zones wide?).

Its five AM here on the east coast of the USA.

And one of your topics- make pot smoking safer- theyve already made great strides in making e-cigarette type devices to enable you to "smoke" the stuff without actually smoking it and hurting your lungs.

If you need validation by seeing folks respond to what you say then just post something (anything) about Trump.

"Trump is our savior!", or "Trump is a cretin and a knave". Either one would get 47 pages of vitriolic response in a heartbeat. Doing that would not improve your life in any way. But you would have the fun of seeing a lot of response.

I'm supposedly a "popular" member of WP.

Every time I start a thread, I get very few responses.

I don't cry over it.

You're probably a less insecure person than me with a healthy measure of self esteem ,rather than the low self esteem I have.

To get replies to your threads you need to be on the ball with other people's threads and posts, all the time. That's what I was told when I last made a thread asking this same question.

But I've learnt not to take it too personally if I don't get replies. WP goes hot and cold; sometimes threads I make do get countless replies, then other times they don't. But at the moment WP is rather active, therefore I do see more replies.
It seems harder to get replies if you start threads in the social skills and making friends section.

There is only one member here I tend to skip, but it's none of you. He never contributes to anyone's threads, and he's been known to trick members into giving him money. But, let's not get right deep into that. I don't skip anyone else's threads, even if I have been attacked by the OP of a thread in the past.

I dont start threads very often. But when I do most crap out after only a couple of responses. The ones I initiated that actually went on for several pages number around three total (and thats over the several years Ive been on WP).
