One of my interests is walking. I thought I would share my interest with everyone. I just started using a Fitbit. Let's see if anyone else has a similar interest.

If by interest you mean "always walking around and never able to sit still" then yes, it's a huge interest of mine, LOL.

I'll say, that's the first I've seen walking being described as a special interest. Hope you can find someone to connect with on that point.

I like walking a lot. In fact, I very much believe it is the most superior form of exercise, other than swimming. As a runner I can testify muscle problems and frequent minor sprains are much rarer with walking, but still gives the heart what it needs. I occasionally take long walks of about 4.5 miles (thank you, google maps!) with my mum in the evenings. I live in a coastal town and our walk takes me past some of my favourite places, the more indie side of town and of course, the sea. She has high blood pressure and cholesterol and initially started walking to improve her own fitness, but my dad would worry because like me, she sort of disregards safety in favour of a a nice, cool night walk, so I ended up accompanying her as a somewhat ineffective bodyguard.

I often make it a point to walk down my road and back at least once a day, which is 2.5 miles, if I recall. Anywho I enjoy walking not just for the exercise but for the view here, in these woods, that and the quiet helps consolidate my thoughts.

I wouldn't call walking an "interest" of mine but I do frequently use it as a form of travel. The nearest subway/rail station is about 10 minutes walk from my home. Although I could get a bus there, I almost always walk there and back again when I go out. Once I'm in the centre of town, walking is the main method that I use to get around. Luckily, London is a very walkable city for the most part so I don't need to use too much effort on foot to get to wherever my destination is. Occasionally, I like to travel by rail or underground to one of London's major parks and just spend the day walking around. Richmond Park in SW London is particularly nice and you have the added bonus of being near the river so you can also have a pleasant riverside walk. I am also lucky to have a large and very popular park about 15 minutes walk from where I live. I've not been there for a while but now the weather is starting to get warmer, I think I might visit it sometime soon.

Lucky, I went on a walk and part of it was hiking. I had to walk on the other side of barricades and hold on to the guard rail.
