I think I read somewhere once that people with autism didn't care about the way they look, and don't do anything special about their appearance. I think that maybe in total more NT's than aspies care about their appearance, but many aspies do as well. Some even have cool and unique styles.

But is there a gender difference here too? Most female aspie I've known (not many though, so I don't know if this means anything) have used make-up and stuff like that, and I do as well myself. I definitely care about the way I look, but sometimes I tend to be a bit insecure about it too.

What's your personal opinion on this?

Not particularly.

I'm sat here in jeans that are 3 years old, a black t-shirt (this is the newest item of clothing I own and it's about a year old), socks and underpants that are far too old (a lot older than the jeans), a pair of slippers, I shave my head to a grade-2 as it's easy to maintain, no jewellery, no piercings, no tattoos. I do have big sideburns, so I guess you could call them a fashion accessory except for the fact that they're over 30 years old and I'm sort of attached to them!

Overall, I'd say no, not really :)

I do but far from the point of obsession and vanity.

Certainly, though I like to feel healthy more than anything, as much as possible given my occasional bad habits.

Not too much, but I've taken to caring more recently. Working on rebuilding my wardrobe, and researching some colognes, skin-care products and accessories for future indulgences. I'm in the middle of carving out my style, so I'm not quite sure what form it'll take in the end. Sure seems to involve a lot of leather, though.

Also, a discerning eye can make some damned fine deals on the second-hand market.

I would care less about how I look had I been 30 pounds lighter.

Honestly, I dress up for other people and to fit in. I wear minimal accessories because I don't like the feeling of too many, but it is needed to look more put together. I wear make-up when I leave the house sometimes.

I would probably just be a dirty slob if left to my own devices, and when depressed. When life is going well I would be groomed, clean, and plain. It's weird though, because I truly love fashion, art, and appreciate creativity. When I was younger I didn't have the guts to wear cool outfits. Now I'm too lazy.

I think most people, NT or otherwise, would probably tend toward the lazy side if we weren't concerned about impressing others.

I care about the way I look on the days that I go into work. I don't really care how I cone across to people on the days that I'm not at work, or visiting my parents. Those are the days that I have fun with my helmets.

I'm too lazy to put on make-up but I do put lipstick on. I always make sure my hair is well-groomed, although it gets oily quick but I do wash it regularly.

I am passionate in going out looking presentable though. I am hygienic and I change and wash my clothes regularly (I change my underwear every day). I also like to look trendy, my style is not out of the ordinary, just casual and age-appropriate.

I used to do that all the time, always making sure my hair was perfect, for my hot-guyness.

Hey Mr. Drew.

Could we shake hands? I'm sorry I got you upset.

I just like to kid around sometimes.

I do like to dress in clothes I like, and I do go to the gym, but I like to keep things simple. Time and money spent on appearance is not spent on music, or my family. There's more important things than how someone looks.

Most of my time is inside alone or at work in a kitchen where we have to wear hairnets, anyway. Who's going to see?

I used to not really care about the way I look but nowadays I kinda do: it's a fact that, if you're better looking, more people will like you

I dress to blend in (as much as I can), but I will not spend much on clothes, have always had the same haircut and will not wear any other jewellery than a watch and my wedding ring (a plain band). I just don't think most Aspies are vain. I like to think we are too practical.
