short term and long term depression.
do you think there's short term and long term depression?
short term as in depending on what's going on in that moment in time, like a move, starting a new job or the change of in a routine. a situation that can be work on after some time and adjusting.
long term as in struggling to get out of bed, not leaving the house, avoiding friends/family and not want go focus on life.
i think everyone gets into moments where they get into funks, but over time it works out and there's other people who have it more severe and need help.
I think what you describe as short term is also called situational depression, and yes, I think most people experience this. I think there are some other times when it's natural to get depressed, like during adolescence when hormones are fluctuating. What you describe as long term is Major Depressive Disorder, sometimes just called "clinical depression." That can fluctuate too, based on circumstances, but it's always there to a certain degree and can be quite severe for weeks, months, etc., hence manifesting as long term.
