The title says it all. I have a problem with obsessing on topics, hobbies, and interests. This goes as far as constantly thinking and talking about one thing for weeks on end most of the time from the moment I wake up to when I fall asleep. It has gotten to the point to where it has damaged social relationships of mine and I think the only way to resolve this is to recluse because I don't need to cause anymore of a nuisance. I was diagnosed with ASD when I was 2 but now I am under PDD-NOS after a re-evaluation (to be specific, I know the DSM V threw everything into the same spectrum). This has caused me to be ashamed and fed up with how I become a problem to others. Any advice? I don't want any pity if that is what some of you think. I just don't know who to turn to now and I very rarely ask for anonymous advice.

I got that all the time too until I basically said "f**k you" to everyone. If you want to talk to me, you're GOING to hear about my obsessions and like it; and it's not like I'm asking you to talk to me. I got the most s**t for my special interests from my own family and yes, I even had to basically tell them to f**k off.

I hear you there. For me, it's almost like my brain gets into this rut when I talk about one of my special interests, and by the time I realize it, the person I'm talking to is bored or annoyed. It takes practice to actively watch the person you're talking to for interest.

You don't have to apologize for yourself though; frankly the average person is interested in such shallow things, you're doing them a favor by enriching them with knowledge they wouldn't have come across otherwise. :D
