I thought it was funny. What do you think?

I am the same as the NT people in the video. I don't do 'autistic' stimming, and if I try, it doesn't feel natural. The only stimming I do are more socially acceptable stims, but I'm not really a stimmer.

It's cool to try to understand autistics by doing some of their behaviours. There's nothing wrong with that.

My daughter does hand squeezing, face hugs and occasionally flaps her hands.

That was pretty entertaining. The majority of my stims nowadays are vocal in nature. I get obsessed with certain words or phrases and keep repeating them.

I didn't think it was funny. There was nothing funny about it.
I didn't think it was offensive either.
The guy had a good attitude about his daughter's behavior.

I did not find it funny.

It would be offensive if she was not consulted about this.

Not offended by it.

Did find it a little bit funny.

Of course I just watched it without the sound.

Even just the visual--it was clear to me that the NT's were over-thinking it. I over-think a lot of things, but stimming, I just do. When I do think about it, it's along the lines of how NT's think it's weird and disturbing, and I wonder why they let it bother them when ASD people stim. We're not hurting anything. If they had any idea how much some of their NT habits bother me, they might think twice about picking on Autistics for stimming.

Of course, it wasn't outrageously funny. I did find it amusing and laughed a few times. It's nice that her family at least tries to understand her.

hmmm, when I stim I usually catch myself after having done it for a bit without noticing. For instance I always tend to pace when I am on the phone its really hard to sit down so even if I try I still end up getting up and pacing. I crinkle up paper I am holding...that can be problematic if I have a receipt I might need to keep or a bus transfer if I don't put it in my pocket right away. If I keep it in my hand I am at risk of turning it into a crumply mess before I realize it. I also apparently touch my face when I am thinking or engaged in a conversation like more than most people.

If I am reading a book or magazine I crumple the page I am not reading, and am not usually aware when I start doing it, just if someone points it out or I get distracted from reading and realize I'm doing it.

Also could be a stim but sometimes I make random verbal noises anything from meows, growls, grunts or even odd screechy noises, or will hum or verbalize random tunes from music I've heard...I also tend to talk outloud to myself when I am alone or think I am..., I even sometimes will use different accents, probably not very good imitations though lol.

If these NTs really wanted to experience it they'd have to find a way to emulate doing it automatically or not being entirely aware of it when it happens.

Same, I don't do stimming (not even the "more socially acceptable" stims, whatever you may have meant by that) and I don't really understand what it would do for me, it's just not natural.

It's an interesting idea to try to understand by trying it out... if it works for someone else.

Heh if I don't have my speech processor (for my hearing) turned on, I apparently do make noises from my throat if I get excited. If I have it turned on (and so I have my hearing "on"), no such noises. This is all subconscious.

That actually makes more sense, this way I can imagine what it'd be like - I'd just find it to be extra extending of energy that I don't need to extend.
