I think I'm going to ask to go back on antidepressants to at least get through the summer - I've been consistent medication free for a year and up until now I was coping pretty well but I tend to fade in the stretch, so to speak. I've tried quite a few but the one I've found to work the best for me is Lexapro.

Prozac sucked for me. So did Lexapro, Cymbalta, and Clomipramine. I used to know someone who was on Zoloft, and he said it worked well. I want to try it if I can.

In my opinion drugs do help suppress the symptoms of AS. they do not actually cure the problem, through my experience counseling is a better option since my parents do not believe in the disease either way. To them AS is a bunch of "foohey" and does not deserve the need of prescription drugs. My father is coming around to the idea of AS existing since he has seen a slight change in social interactions during the past 4 years.

All I'm saying is drugs will suppress symptoms, but in order to make things work strategies can be developed in a non-biased environment, such as counseling or personal attendants the schools can now assign to individuals.

My husband briefly took Wellbutrin and it made him hallucinate and weepy. He "saw" his [recently dead] brother. He then went on Lexapro which made him zombie-ish and uncreative, dull. He had to take it at the time because he was so over-stressed that he was blacking out (while awake) and experiencing amnesia.

I was recently "prescribed" rigorous exercise for my depression. I'm experiencing really bad mood swings.

I've only been on Zoloft and Paxil.

I went off Paxil after 10 days because I was getting really paranoid and anxious. As soon as I went off it, that all cleared up.

I took Zoloft specifically for compulsive (involuntary) thinking about suicide when I was being treated for depression (I was getting cognitive therapy too). It worked wonderfully for my compulsive thinking. But for the rest of my depression symptoms, not so much. The side effecs eventually got too frustrating.

Lot of varibility in peoples responces to anti-depressants. But I tend to recommend prozac as the first choice for a male.

Some of its benfits include very long half-life so one is unlikely to have major problems
from missing a few doses. It tends to be more stimulating than sedating . It will have lowwer sexual side effects(delayed orgasm and ED) than other SSRI's in men. Its off patent and low cost. I think Walmart has it for $4 a month in most states. I buy mine online since I do not have a real life doctor so it cost me just under $1 a day.

cool. you can just buy stuff like that online? dont you have to have a doctor write you a presription? also if i might add one more thing, when i was in the mental hospital a few years ago and we'd have "group" in the mornings everyone would name off there medications like it was something they were extremely proud of, a little to happy perhaps. i dunno thats the way it seemd like to me

Effexor was horrible for me. My system never seemed to adjust to it, or maybe I was supposed to feel that way, but I'd get dizzy spells and tire easy. When I stopped taking it, I was getting migraine after migraine, was screaming at people, constantly dizzy, etc. It took 2 weeks for it to finally chill out some.

I've been on almost all of these, without any positive effects. The only anti-depressant that may have done anything for me was doxepin.

The thing about antidepressants is that "your mileage may vary". My cousin tried Prozac and quit because he felt it turned him into a zombie. It didn't have that effect on me. In fact, it worked very well for what it was supposed to do... and I gained a substantial amount of weight when I was on it. I stopped taking it, the weight came off. Ten years later I go on Celexa (which, like Prozac, is an SSRI), and it also did what it was supposed to do... and it also caused me to gain weight. I stopped taking it, the weight came off (though more slowly than last time).

I've heard good things about Wellbutrin, but at this time I'm not on any antidepressants. And I find taking St. John's Wort in the winter helps cope with my seasonal dark mood in the dead of winter.

Yeah its a pharmacy with an online doctor. So basically you select the meds you want
and fill at a form saying your fine and got this med before from your in real life doctor,
had a physical exam in the last 6 months, etc. They ship to most US states(only).

I've ordered both prozac and wellbutrin form them. Few things I hate is they allways charge $20 shipping and they will spam your email address till the end of time for you to re-order.
