On a scale from 1 to 10, how severe is your Autism or AS?

When I was diagnosed with AS, the neurologist said that on a scale from 1 to 10, I was 0.5 when it came to how severe my AS was. However, I still experienced the classic strengths and weaknesses of AS, nonetheless. Now, I'm considered 'high functioning'.

So, on a scale from one to ten, how severe do YOU think your Autism or AS is? This scale is mostly about AS, but if you have Autism, then say something so that we know. If you can't think of a number, then do you consider yourself either high (minor AS), mid (average AS), or low (severe AS) functioning? I'd love to hear from some of you!

Is 10 very severe and 1 not very severe?

I don't know how severe autism gets. I guess that is really poor. From what I've read or seen on TV possibly 0.3

Though I would place my cognitive dysfunction/ADHD high.

OK. Including all forms of autism, then I'd say about 1. If you just mean Aspergers then I'm really not sure. I have times when I seem about a 3 compared to other people with AS, then other times I feel about a 6 or 7.
But if you mean AS and other ASDs all on the same scale, then around 1.

Either disability will work, especially AS. However, I thought that I would broaden it so that the supposed folks with Autism could answer as well.

But which was your neurologist referring to? I think neurologically there are only subtle differences. In a brain scan of a severely autistic child they may be able to find more distinctive patterns.

Asperger Syndrome. Basically, the scale is mostly about AS, but if anyone has Autism, then they should clarify that they have Autism. So let's start over. On a scale from 1 to 10, how severe do you think your AS is, based on the analysis of your life and what you think the psychologist would say?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Depending on what attribute, when, and where.

Or maybe more like 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, without any 4, 5, 6, or 7 in between sometimes.

But no single or fixed number.

Same here. There are times when I feel like a 1 or less, and then there's times when 10 might not be high enough. It all depends on the level of comfort in my situation, and the stress level involved. (Which is a classic autistic/AS trait anyway, so maybe that affects the level of my score? Oh wait, so does obsessively analyzing all the statistical variables...oh jeez)

On average I guess it's pretty low overall. I have a good job, and I'm about to graduate college. I live on my own, and have good aquantainces, but no real good friends (75% by choice). I'm lucky in that the individualistic aspect of AS has caused a near obsessive focus on doing everything by myself. I just have to work harder at it, but it's not like I have a date or anything tonight...

Overall, I'd say I'd rate about a 7.

But there are good days when I just about feel close to normal and I'd have a 1 day.

Then there are other days when I just get dumped on, my smptoms would be working overtime and I'd bee completely in the throwes of my AS. Those days would be my 11 on a 1 to 10 scale.

There are days I manage to stay afloat and not let AS get the best of me. And there are days when AS kicks my ass.

I have a hard time equating things to numbers...but I guess I'd give myself a 3-4...or maybe a 2-3
