On Maine , U.S.A. , a man named Christopher Knight spent 27 years completely alone in the woods , surviving by petty thefts of food and clothing , etc. ,from nearby residents .
When he was finally caught and jailed , he got off relatively lightly , but could not go back to the woods anymore .
Someone wrote a magazine article about him when it happened , later expanding it into a book . The original GQ magazine article can be found on the Web , as well as pieces/reviews of the book .
Yep - Those who tested him found him to have Asperger's and more besides .
