I know a lot of Aspie girls with low voices and I have a low voice myself. I don't sound like a girl, I sound like a stoner boy with a German-ish/Irish accent. My mom thinks I sound this way on purpose but I don't. My voice got much deeper as I got older even though it wasn't supposed to. What do you guys think? Is there a reason behind this?

Hmmm...interesting. Shows what you know about Aspies, doesn't it rofl?

I've also heard of aspies tending to have unusually high voices. I think it may be an inflection problem, or not being aware of how ones own voice sounds, or something, or it could be do to unusual vocal chords, or it could be coicidence.

My voice is more resonant and 'masculine' than my female friends.

But, I'm fairly certain I have a hormonal imbalance, so I'm don't think it's ASD related. At least in my case.

My voice is low and masculine and I have a bit of an accent as well. I don't mind. I'm quite satisfied that I don't sound like the average North American woman.

Probably both reasons for me. Oh well :D

Low and deep like Barry White.

Accent: Canadian, sometimes English.

My voice is lower than most girls my age but it isn't masculine. I have inflection in my voice, I just don't have the squealing in it like some teenage girls do.

Hmm. I've always had a deeper voice than most women. But I also have PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) which causes me to have more testosterone (it's a complex hormonal imbalance) than other girls my age. Never attributed my low voice to Aspergers. It's a possibility. Think I'll do research and find out.

I'm a man and have a deep voice and have also been told I have an "accent" uncharacteristic of the region where I live, though I don't hear it myself. I've also been told I should be on the radio, since I've trained myself to speak well and properly, on top of being able to be low and loud. I've met one Aspie girl, and I enjoyed listening to her a lot. Not sure if there's any correlation.

deep voices are truly fine sounds to hear. the long-time host [recently retired] of CBC-radio's "as it happens" is one such distinctive and rich contralto voice.

I have a lower voice, and I also have PCOS and high angroden levels. I wouldn't just put it down to hormones rather than AS, though, because it has been theorised that higher testosterone levels is linked to AS. It fits with the EMB theory of autism. So to me it all goes together in the one package.

I have a low 'nasal' voice apparently. When I get overexcited I sometimes burst into high pitched squealy voice which drives my step-dad insane! Strangely enough though, although my spoken voice is low, my singing voice ranges from lowest female voice to highest! I can even hold the whistle voice!

I have a low voice and often get mistaken for male on the telephone. I think it's partly because I don't use any inflection.

I have a monotone and a low voice. Put together, people can't even hear me, or they assume I'm maleXP
