Mostly clothes and such things, I do it without thought. But a bowling ball I bend down for.

I can pick up fairly small objects with my toes. I don't so much now as when I was younger. For some reason my circulation has got worse so I wear socks and slippers all winter or my feet get painfully cold.

When I was a child I hated putting shoes on. I am quite flat footed and my doctor encouraged me to practice picking up pencils with my toes as it apparently helps. Not sure how.

All the time. It's one reason I hate wearing shoes, it greatly limits my ability to reach and grab for things. I can't actually write or eat with my feet or anything, but I can grab things. And since I'm in a wheelchair that tilts back, often it's my feet that are level with doorknobs or buttons other things that I have to twist or hit or whatever, and I do all that with my feet.

I pick up socks with my feet because the socks have germs on them that can't touch my hands or I'll die. :D

I pat my cat with my feet. I pick up small objects with them. I've got really long toes. But I had the sensation of my feet on the ground. But in summer I have no choice but to take off my shoes.

Sometimes. Moreso when I was a kid. I also pet my cat with the top of my foot sometimes.

I use my big toe to flick on the switch of a heater I have by my computer desk, and to turn on a computer that is sitting under a table. I guess actually anything that's out of arms' reach, but within within foots'-reach from my computer chair tends to end up being toe-activated. There's a low drawer I usually open that way (since I use it to rest my feet and thus don't need to bend down to it for any reason). And to pick up dropped pens and such. Sometimes my car keys if I drop them when trying to unlock my car door (I wear flip-flops all summer).

I remember a program on TV once about a guy who was born without arms. As he grew up he learned to write, use a knife & fork, shave, and hold a can of soda with his feet (and could hold the can of soda with one foot). It would be so cool to be able to do that.

It bugs my wife when I pick stuff up with my toes. Not sure what it has to do with autism, but it is definitely a check mark in the weird column.

If I can, and it is easier, I may. But I certainly do NOT have opposable toes, or even the ablity to curl them into a fist of sorts. And I would have trouble trying to paint with my feet. .Do any of you?

I do. It's easier than like having to reach down for something, to just grab it with my foot. That's an interesting little article. For that theory, well, I was never really made to wear shoes at home as a kid. Not that that would have made any difference because I wouldn't have worn them anyway, if I could help it. I still don't.

Huh, I didn't realize this was a common trait. I do this all the time when my feet happen to be closer than my hands to something.

But then, it may just be a common trait of people in general, and nobody really thinks about it much. After all, when do toes come up in normal daily NT conversation?
