So my friend's brother was telling me about this and he puts these videos on to unwind before going to sleep. It's meant to be nice, pleasant, relaxing sounds to help you unwind. This is a an explanation:

So I tried a virtual head massage:

Verdict. My ears and top of head do tingle. No misophonia triggers so far. Bit weird though. I did fall asleep half way through. I woke up towards the end thinking, what's that weird rustling sound.

I like the idea, some of the videos example triggers wouldn't work for me but as they say it can be anything to suit personal tastes.

I was given a wire head massage tool as a gift and it sends tingles from the back of the head like she describes.

Only real-world ASMR works for me.

If I was in work or school and a teacher asked everyone to gather around so we could be shown how to do something, I would sometimes fall into a super-relaxing trance-like state, where I would feel just terrific & kind of tingly. It's just wonderful.

Until a couple of years ago I thought that it was just something that was peculiar to me, and then I saw something about it in a newspaper and realised that it is actually a thing.

As I say, the videos and stuff do nothing for me at all, but when I do experience it in the real world, oh man, is it great.

To anybody that has never experienced it, you're really unfortunate, it is one of life's great experiences.

I listen to the hair massage ASMRs. It makes it feel like there's really someone playing with my hair, and it sends me to sleep. Niiiiiiiiiice....

I also like the Q-tips scratching on a microphone ones. My ears are always itchy, so this tricks my ears into thinking they're being scratched by a Q-tip, and honestly it does soothe the itchiness.

Yesterday I spent hours watching videos on YouTube of people performing Chinese and Japanese tea ceremonies which combines one of my special interests (Japanese/ East Asian culture) with the ASMR feeling which I like to use as a stim. Tea ceremonies really are a very relaxing form of art and they give me lots of ASMR.

I can obtain asmr zen when there are less imposed distractions to blot out the simple connection that I am after, it is a little like some sensual fetishes where they try to layer so many things on top that the effect is lost within all of the make up for me lol. I experience asmr quite intensely when it is the creatively placed extended whisper kind of videos, some of the categories like those heavily dressed up ones like ''such and such exam'' or ''travel agent roleplay'' or ''ten thousand clicky-whoosh things slapped around'' do nothing for me, I like the stripped down basics of alluringly draped and strategically dropped whisperings curiously sharpened or ballooning out, I want to hear interesting cadence and flurries of playful whispering, that's all.

Has anyone got any recommendations. I can't find any videos on YouTube more relaxing than Gentle Whispering ASMR. Maria's videos seem better planned out than others and she's more professional and the least creepy.

I really don't get the role play ones. Suit fitting?? Medical Exam?? Turning you into a Vampire?? Eh, no thanks.

I quite like the goo/slime videos. but I prefer them on instagram. These youtube compilations are badly edited.

Also Kinetic Sand

Oh, I've discovered a whole new thing. Youtubers reacting to ASMR. This one is hilarious. His face!
