Do you find when you have to mix with people your'e appetite increases! This happens to me I thinks its becasue I get bored I start thinking about food and nibbling, also it could be linked to stress related eating for comfort.

Yes, and then I get nervous and start eating too fast.

No, I'm the opposite! I get too nervous to eat when I'm out with people. I'm often the only person in a group of people in a pub not to order food.

I don't get hungry I just feel like doing something and if food is nearby I will start eating it. Usually I just fondle an object though. When I sit down for a meal I eat very fast. I'm usually done before anyone else is a quarter of the way through their meal. It takes too much concentration to slow down so I don't even try.,

Yeah, I do seem to get hungrier. If I can get focused on the eating then sometimes I can sort of zone out and it doesn't bug me. The hardest times for me when going into a crowded restaurant are the interactions with the employees, and having to walk through crowded rows of patrons to be seated. Realy loud places (typically places that serve alcohol) are the worst for me. Nicer places that have low lighting and low noise with lots of space around each table effect me the least and I can sometimes get pretty comfortable.

Something I like to do when I have to eat out is order something off the appetizers menu as an entree, or an entree that requires some planning like fajitas, and then I can get wrapped up in the organizing of what goes with which sauce and things like that. This helps me to cope in realy loud crowded places though I'm sure I look strange to anyone paying attention to me.

I can relate more with drinking too fast when I am nervous. I had to learn this in college. I would go out, be too nervous to eat and then drink too much. I'm sure it is some kind of coping mechanism with dealing with the stress.

I eat fast no matter what but I tend to usually eat alone and do not feel relaxed eating with others.

I think I used to drink too much too fast too. All that glucose going to the brain, I would usually glug down lager and turn into a beer woman! The only way I could mildly enjoy company.

I've always hated eating with other people.
In my opinion eating is something that shouldn't be shared.
But it's impossible to break that social norm.
I've fought for years to be allowed to eat by myself.
But people just don't understand.
They see it as a basic necessity to eat together and talk.
They see it as rude if you don't confide to theyr ways.

I've learned to live with this, but it still just feels plain wrong to me.
It's like having sex in front of your family.
Some things just aren't meanth to be shared by the world.
