Hey everyone, I'm new here *waves*
I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I found this picture of an autistic pride symbol, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it's a symbol for autistic pride in general, or just for the pride day? Is there any other symbol for autism or asperger's? I hope that's not a dumb question.

Welcome to WP! :D
I think it's a symbol in general.
I'm not sure about any others though.

I think we need a different symbol. That looks too similar to the gay pride symbol.

Thanks!
I'm just wondering if it's the "right" symbol, because if it is, I'd like to include it in a tattoo that I plan on getting. :nerdy:

I personally don't mind that it looks like the gay pride flag though, since I'm gay as well lol

You mean you have a tattoo like that? Did you come up with that yourself or did you find it somewhere?

I am so glad someone asked this question!

I've been wondering about this for sometime as well. Wondering when or IF we will get our own "Aspie pride" symbol. So when I saw this thread, I VERY, very quickly (I would like to emphasize) created this symbol that's been rattling around in my head for a while.

I see it as a keychain. There should be a small hoop at the top to fasten the thing to your main keychain but I didn't have room in my haste to draw that. And yeah, it reminds me of Robin's "R" symbol. But hey... And the square in the circle is supposed to represent (when drawn better) the square peg in a the round hole. And only Aspies would understand the meaning of that symbolism. It'd be our thing!

So here it is:

I came up with a logo which looks like one of MC Escher's staircases.

KBABZ thanks for the welcome!

Thank you DarknessDescends!

I wanted to make a symbol that could be quickly recognized and would translate well to a keychain or a symbol on a T-shirt. I am glad that you like the idea of a square peg in a round hole. I literally came up with that symbol one night while I was sleeping. I forced myself to wake up and I slinked over to my drawing table nearly dead asleep and drew a very ugly sketch of that thing in what had to have been 4 in the morning.

I will try to make a better version soon. I wish I stil had AutoCad, otherwise I'd draw up this fancy professional looking schematic. I have seriously thought about learning how to make jewelry so that I can make some for myself.

I think a light bulb would be a good Asperger's/autism pride symbol. In popular culture, a light bulb symbolizes a good idea or intelligence (being bright) in general. People with autism or AS are usually very smart, but don't get a chance to show that smartness. So the light bulb symbol would be helpful in showing that fact.

I know that on www.aspergia.com there is a suggestion of wearing orange wristbands.
