So how does everybody feel about fireworks? I like to look at them but, the big loud ones are very annoying! They kind of sound like thunder (which is another thing I hate).

I also became a little scared of them because
When I was younger a firecracker landed on my arm (luckily it was already out when it landed on me!)

So just curious, how do you all feel about fireworks.

I believe that people should be licensed pyrotechnics before they can even buy fireworks. Then again, the idiots that blow up a hand or a few fingers deserve exactly what they get. There's also the fact that fireworks are a fire hazard, especially when handled by people that don't know or care about what they're doing. Yes, fireworks are nice to look at, but leave it in more professional hands.

Fireworks don't really interest me. I think it has a lot to do with the crowds. Though I have made them in the past. That was fun. Dangerous, but fun.

I do like a good thunderstorm though.

Not for nothing, but the sound I really don't like is the sound of my air compressor.

I have gone to 'see them' but when they are going off in my neighborhood many times through the year I absolutely hate them. Biggest reason is I love the quiet but also for the animals which I love more than anything...I worry for the outdoor animals and my best buddy who is a cat can't stand them.

I find them very boring. Like people put some much effort into taking a trip to see professional displays or they spend lots of money on personal fire works. They get so much enjoyment out of the colored explosions and for me to see it once is enough to know what it is.

They are a bit of fun, but dangerous, two of my old "friends" "pranked" me by setting one down at my front door as I answered it. Luckily I didn't get hurt. Plus Ive gotten into trouble with fireworks before. Although they can be fun, the danger is not worth it most of the time unless it is a special occasion like 4th of july or a birthday or something...still though...

I missed them... Fireworks from where I live are outright banned due to yearly deaths. It's really rare to see it nowadays.

I spent my childhood days and most of my teen years handling various fireworks every year -- from a tiny pop-pops to a belt made of exploding triangles for simply being loud, from a wee sparkling candles to a set of fat rockets just to make things flashy.
Yes, I was unlicensed AND underage, with little or less supervision at teen years -- and that was the norm here.

I don't like them. They are bad for the environment because of the pollution, and each is only enjoyed for a few seconds. I don't mind the sound, as I like thunder etc.

In Australia, I don't think people can just buy fireworks. I'm not sure, but you probably need a licence because they're explosives. Shows are put on professionally, though.

Where I grew up, they were only sold in June, and I considered them a rare treat, especially the "burning schoolhouse." I had to go to an even bigger city to see big ones, though. One of the peak moments of my life was the first time I got really close to a big show. South of the border for a 4th of July, I noticed that Americans spend at least ten times as much on fireworks. Overall, shows have gotten much bigger and better. However, the whole genre was almost ruined for me the night I took my ex. She met my support group there, and wouldn't shut up to let us just watch anything. Now, I mostly see pollution and misplaced pride, but they are still pretty enough that I'd much rather watch than just listen unhappily.

I like going to the big fireworks show over the water at the marina. Other than that fireworks like personal ones don't interest me.

I enjoy the pretty ones from my window on Bonfire night and new years eve, but hate the loud bangs, especially when nearby.

I was near to a IRA bombing in London when I was a small child though, and for a long time afterwards I was afraid of anything that could make a bang, even balloons, so it could be more to do with that for me than being aspie.

I get really jumpy and anxious about loud noises, but funnily enough, fireworks do not worry me. I can quite comfortably stand at a fireworks display and not be worried about the noise at all.

Oddly enough I actually love the sound of fireworks in an organized display, and I enjoy the visuals. I really love a fireworks display. So, I love fireworks.

But they are dangerous in amateur hands and people shouldn't be allowed to buy them and set them off any day, any time anywhere.

I'm concerned about people and animals with anxiety reactions; it's for that reason that it should be enforced that only ONE day is given to fireworks. In the UK it goes on all damn month during November. If they are only permitted on one day, it enables people to prepare themselves or their pets.

I'm also concerned about wild animals. In my area there is an annual organized display that takes place right next to a pond that is habitat to several bird species. I cannot imagine how stressful that is to them that night.

Fireworks used to be one of my special interests growing up, until I learned to make much better ones than you can buy at a stand or store. After that point, it lost some of the sparkle to me. It is like loving the taste of cake until you go to work at a cake store and have sampled too much of it.
