I just had a question about how to be less obsessed with special interests, and be comfortable having a healthy balance in life.
A blessing and a curse for me is being obsessed with my passions. I learn so much about them and notice patterns, systems, but probably the bad part is that I get too obsessed with them. They can get in the way of me taking care of my physical and mental health (I spend a lot of time on computer) because I want to find ways to work from home and is an important goal of mine.
The only thing is when my passion obsessions kick in I can't help but feel obliged to engage in them and find it hard to do any activities unrelated to them. I noticed this greatly when I tried to live away from family.
This affects me worst in the realm of meeting people and relationships, both natural desires I have but for some reason I feel afraid if I do my interests less, that I may miss something crucial. I of course would be happy to engage in passions less for someone important though. I see meet up groups but I don't take action and join because of this ideology.

How does someone get a healthy balance in life? If there's a lot of things or activities in the mix at once I get overwhelmed and perform well with an all or nothing approach really. I notice a lot of NT people could arguably manage lots of things at once better.

It'd be great to hear some thoughts from others, or if there are strategies which help to combat the all-or-nothing thinking we can often go in to.
Thanks

If you are able, use your passions to find like-minded people who share your interests.
