Were you like an expressionless doll in your earlier years?

Before I could talk and even shortly after I could talk I never smiled and had little to no emotional expression and sometimes gaze into nothingness. My mother would describe me as a human doll. I never smiled never laughed nor cried when I was real little. I was wondering if anyone was also like this as a child. I guess my personality was like that of Yin from the anime darker than black only im a guy I would also wander off as well alot.

I was like this too. My mother wondered why I had no emotions.

According to my mother, I was like that too. I never laughed or smiled. I don't know if I cried though, she never mentioned crying.

My mother told me that the only expressions I showed on my face when I was a child (excluding the emotion-less one) were smile and sadness. I smiled a lot as a child, even for no reason. I still do.

Yes, I've been told so. They said I was looking grumpy, but so far as I remember that was my neutral expression. Big drama when someone took pictures because I wouldn't smile. Nope. All the slapping and yelling at me didn't change my mind. Never really understood why smiling would be important.

When i was a child i did and said some odd things. I have no idea why...
"One time i told my granny to leave and don't forget her pocketbook" now this was obviously a learned wording i picked up off either my grandma or mother. I have no idea why i said it, i don't know if it was an attempt at humor... it did not go over well.

My mother would constantly say to me "don't you care about anything?!?!" all exasperated.

I did have emotions, sometimes they were out of control..

Only when I'm laughing do I "show" emotion. Other than that I am still like that. I've had a boss yell at me when he was freaking out because I didn't show any emotion.

I can't remember as a child before about 7, and still haven't discussed being aspergers with my parents. But I know that from about age 8 I wore a permanent smile. By the time I confessed aged 18 that I'd been to hell and back emotionally, every one was completely taken aback. But you always looked so happy!

My mother said I was a colicky baby. Guess that means I cried a lot as an infant & wasn't consolable. After the infant stage I don't know. In pictures I looked like I was trying to smile, but not actually smiling -- doing my best to do what I was told to do whether or not I felt happy I don't know; don't remember much before age 5. Then my "try smile" got a little bit more tame. Before 5 it looked a little like an angry smile, but after 5 it looked like a depressed smile. The eyes are not creased, just my mouth is in a easy closed mouth smile.

As a older child and through my teen years, I remember people telling me I should cheer up, but I wasn't feeling anything -- was just neutral. Guess I have a resting b***h face.

I am atypical here. My mom said I was a happy baby and an outgoing little girl. My problems began when I started school.

I did cry a lot, but most of the time I only sometimes showed emotion on my face. Today, I have a "situational flat affect", which basically means my flat affect appears depending on the situation.

People couldn't tell how I was feeling when I was young.

I did scream quite a bit as a toddler.

I'm described as "moody" throughout my life.

Again, I'm atypical here. If I'm happy or upset, people know it. It shows on my face. I wish I could have a more neutral, straightforward expression in public.
