Does anyone ever get very, very dizzy for only about five minutes to the point where everything you see goes blue and fuzzy and everything you hear sounds muffled?
I've had this happen to me three times in my life.
The first time was when I was twelve and I was at a theme park waiting to go on the gocarts and it was hot and there were all these people standing in line with me. I had to go sit down for ten minutes and then I was perfectly fine.
The second time was when I was twelve and I was in science class and it was cold and I just started to get very dizzy. Someone had to walk with me to the nurse's office and the nurse said I looked very pale. After I layed down for a few minutes I was fine again.
The third time was when I was fourteen at school on orientation day and I was turning in forms and it was very hot. Again I just sat down for a bit and then felt fine afterwards.

When I get like this, it looks like I'm looking at a TV screen playing a movie and the tape is broken and you can only see the outlines of things. Everything is different shades of dark blue and fuzzy. Everything I hear sounds really quiet and muffled and I get a sound in my ears like the ocean. I don't know what makes this happen except that it was very hot the first and third times it's happened to me.

Yes, I had that exact thing a few weeks ago. I felt sick as well and had to sit down to stop me from collapsing. My mum said I could have fainted because she used to get the same thing and that's what it was with her.

Yes.....heat,(weather and to hot showers/bath),noise overload, low blood suger, lack of sleep,dehydration....have all done this to me.Dont think I have ever actually blacked out but have seen all "black" and laying down usually helps.

Might also want to get your thyroid checked. It seemed to be a weekly thing for me before I went on the synthroid but I also have problems remembering to eat/drink when I should.

Was that when you were at university showing someone around? I seem to remember you posting about it.

My mum used to get very dizzy when she was younger and she had to go on school trips.

I also get it from very hot showers sometimes and I have to lie down on my bed befre I've even dried myself off. What is thyroid?

Yeah that was the time.
I felt fine in the morning, it just happened really quickly, then I couldn't see properly and I heard this loud noise in my ears. My knees also ached, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.
I thought it had something to do with the heat, but my mum said it could have been because I hadn't been eating much / low blood sugar.

I think the first and third times it's happened to me, it might have been because of the heat. The second time it wasn't hot at all and I don't think I was hungry either.

Something similar happened to me once, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not. :? I had minor surgery on my thumb, but they only gave a local anaesthetic, and blocked it from view with a screen of some sort (although since I was a lot younger then and into gory films and games, I did persuade them to let me see it once. Not a pretty sight! :P ). Afterwards everything went white, and I could only see the outlines of some things and felt like I was going to be sick (I wasn't actually, even though I tried in the bathroom). I managed to walk it off, and it only happened that one time. I'm not sure if it was to do with the same things as what you've described, or if it was maybe a reaction to either the anaesthetic or seeing my thumb sliced open. :?

Yeah, that happens to me occasionally. I've only been able to come up with a reason for a few of them. Once was while I was giving blood and once was shortly after, so that was probably due to low blood pressure. Once was shortly after an extremely painful procedure (a bone marrow without any freaking anesthetic), so that might have been some sort of reaction to the experience. The other times, I don't know what caused it. I hate it though- your vision narrows, you feel nauseous, and everything sounds muffled. I've never actually fainted, but I have come very close.

The thyroid is a gland in your neck. It controls your metabolism, among other things. So when you hear that someone is hypothyroidic or hyperthyroidic, it is a problem with their metabolism.

Thanks, I'll have to do some more research.

I have felt faint and I have blacked out because of poor circulation. Heart disease and
vascular problems run in my family. I had a minimal heart attack several years ago,
since then I quit smoking and using alcohol and I have a very physically active life style.

You should *definitely* go to the doctor. You might also be diabetic, or have low blood pressure, or any number of a host of nasty things that can be treated or cured, but only when you actually know what's going on. Don't delay!
