What are physical health problems that go with Asperger's?

I've only done limited research in this area but I read that there are some physical health problems associated with Asperger's. Does anyone know what these are? Or would anyone like to share personal stories related to this topic? I am trying to figure out my own health. I think I have Asperger's.

There are only possible comorbids or ones related to things like poor planning and interests. Nothing is definite.

I think for some of us Aspergers might lead to broken heart syndrome, which I think is probably just ischemia and unstable angina. The stress leads to the heart not getting enough blood, which makes your heart feel like it is being strangled. The stress can get really bad and cause the heart to work improperly. People die from these "heart attacks" at a young age, which can often be late 20's or early 30's.

As a child I suffered from numerous ailments, including problems with my digestive system, scoliosis (in later childhood) and I was almost permanently ill in winter.

I have no idea if those may have something to do with AS but I wouldn't be suprised though if they had - as a kid I never knew another child who would be equal to me in terms of frequency of being ill.

It seems like there are many that suffer from digestive problems...IBS etc.

Fibro, Chronic Fatigue, sleep disorders, etc...mostly auto-immune disorders as a whole. Not sure about them being associated "with" asperger's, but those seem to be the ones I hear many posters discussing with an overall prevalence.

Personally I was diagnosed with IBS in my early teens, fibro & chronic fatigue later in life.

i don't have any physical health problems full stop, i wasn't aware that aspergers was supposed to be accompanied by physical health problems

I have hypoglycemia, but it runs in the family. My mom and my grandma both also have it.

I have asthma, but apart from that my health is excelent. My NT brothers and my father also has asthma.

Agreed, digestive disorders seem to be prevalent. I myself suffer from IBS.

I think that Stress is exremely common, and it attacks different people in different ways. It does tend to effect the immune system, causing any number of problems.

I myself suffer from IBS, asthma (cough variant), and migraines. I consider myself healthy on the whole (isn't that a laugh) even though I tend to suffer from hypoglycemia as well (the opposite of diabetes).

I think I read somewhere that said those on the autism spectrum have a higher risk of hypertension. I'm 33 and I have slight high blood pressure. I really think diet and exericize are very important for us not only for physical health but mental health.

I recall that some time ago I read (probably on WP) that 60% children with AS have eneuresis nocturna.

I am not officially diagnosed, but I also have IBS, GERD (acid reflux) and fibromyalgia. I have sleep problems (trouble falling asleep) and mild scoliosis. I am not sure any of these things are related.

Due to dyspraxia, I end up injuring myself a lot =D
