Had a meltdown out-of-the blue today at a taqueria for the dumbest...most trivial reason....because they wouldn't make me an avocado tostada or a quesadilla on corn...first i started yelling and then I started crying..and I didn't feel like I had very much control over it....
So..I have spent the rest of the day feeling really exhausted and my coordination has been really off...and I have been more sensitive to sound than usual....and I have been crying off and on..I just feel sorta drugged...or something....and now my venue is about to fill up with people again....and loud bands......like it does every night....and I just don't have the energy for it.

Anyone have any good techniques for recovering after a meltdown....?

Anyone else have meltdowns for really stupid reasons?

Anyone else have somewhat indirect negative reactions to having routines broken?...I have a feeling i am getting this way because of a particular routine getting broken...but I don't feel badly directly about that..It feels very non-specific....but it might be about the routine...and not about the dumb taco nazi guy...

I usually retreat to my bedroom or (if I'm not at home) some other place I can be alone, turn off the lights and rock til I feel better. I like to rock to music sometimes, other times I feel like having it quiet in the room.

I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Stupid taco nazi!

I'm sorry you went through that.. that rarely happens anymore unless I am unable to find something. That ends up triggering a meltdown for sure. Once I am done, I end up plopping down onto the sofa and I am too exhausted to do much of anything. Once I am done resting and if I feel recharged enough, I'll get up and get on with the rest of the day. I also feel like such a fool each time it happens. Too bad I never take that into consideration before it happens.

I have meltdowns ALL the time for reasons that people think are stupid.
I have meltdowns when people dont respond to my text messages, and then i ask people why other people didnt respond to my messages and I get ignored. i ask people that right in front of their faces and they ignore me, then i get angry and start screaming. My uncle calls it a tantrum, and thats what everybody else calls it who doesnt understand.

When I have meltdowns people tend to get very scared of me, and try to get me in trouble because they see me as "AN ANGRY BLACK MEN=A THREAT", so i try not to have meltdowns especially in public because people are RACIST AND IGNORANT AND DON'T LIKE BLACK MEN AND DON'T CARE WHETHER ITS A MELTDOWN OR NOT, HE'S ANGRY AND HE'S BLACK, SO HE'S A THREAT, AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED OR SHOT

Yeah..that's what my partner calls them....tantrums...fits...etc....They don't understand how hard it can be to control them..and that you really wouldn't be having the meltdown if you could really control it....

Yea. i dont know why autistic people have them but we do. Ther's an autistic guy in my school, and my teacher told everyone that he freaks out and goes crazy if somebody disturbs him while he's eating. What a b***h, she's not suppose to share that information. yea i try to calm myself down. because men are seen as a threat more than women, especially black men.

No real plan, I just recover naturally.

I have been put on Paxil again, and I feel better after I take my meds.

Meltdowns only occur about once every 4 months with me.

What is a meltdown?

I sometimes lose it completely but it's been years since it last happened. When it happens I usually attack people verbally and try to break them. I create scenes and I exhaust myself. Sometimes it's beneath a veil of controlled cold rage but it always drains me completely. I recover from it by shutting the world out, having a warm shower and spending time with my cats or hugging my pillow while in fetal position. After some sleep I feel better. So for me you could say the real key was always sleep.

I do exactly the same thing, but my dog died. o well, i get my batman pillow and my stuffed animal and I cuddle with it. My mom tells me to stop, but i like the texture, and she's always giving me new sheets, but I dont like the texture of them. the textures cant calm me down. i usually sleep as well.

Now a days I have meltdowns about girls and why they act certain ways, and why the ones I like dont like me back

I used to throw stuff and scream when I had a meltdown - that hasn't happened for a while. Ok maybe a month.

After I was done throwing things around and hating everyone I'd go to my room, lie down and listen to soothing music. Or if I was still angry I'd listen to loud angrier music.

That's what I usually do during my meltdowns.
