I am not sure I can explain this very well but will try. Is anyone else bothered/stressed by repetitive noises ? The best examples I can give are random hammering that stops and starts and seems to go on for ages. Ditto drilling.

The printer makes an irritating noise when it is on waiting to be used.

People needlessly revving motor cycles, or engines in general.

People having normal conversations that sound "sotto voce" because of the distance they are away from me.

Everything all of you have listed drives me crazy. I also dislike whispering because it makes me more prone to actually listen to the conversation (and for some reason, I can hear every word of a whispered conversation?). I don't want to listen to the conversation, they could be talking about how many kilos they plan to buy in a drug deal and frankly, I really don't care.

Yes. Especially in music. I also hate up down up down noises like an alarm or the chorus of Alicia Keyes New York.

I think the intensity of our reactions to these noises is more over the top, more intense.

I'm pretty sure I have misophonia. I feel filled with rage when the sports reporter comes onto the radio I the morning. I despise his voice.

My son told me one time that everything bothers me. He and his little sister like to make repetitive noise and I always tell them to stop, ringing the bells, blowing flutes or whistles, or just making sounds with toys, or with their mouths, etc. I tell them to do it outside or in their room. I also don't like the sound of bass or snoring.

Yup misophonia. Dripping taps, ticking clocks, thumping ceiling fans, people tapping their hands or feet, droning of power tools or traffic, or people making repetitive noises like sighing, grunting or throat clearing I'm all SHUT UP.

When I was working at a nurse in home health, my patient was hooked up to O2 sat and heart rate monitor that would beep all night long. I HATED it and it made my anxiety shoot through the roof. I can't hear it now without getting triggered on some level.
