I'm hoping at least someone in here can offer some input on this. I'm looking for a small device I can take with me to work, and preferably, conceal in my pocket easily. A lot of the time I will play with the pens I keep in my truck but whenever I get a pen in my hand it is immediately followed by clicking it as fast as humanly possible. I've learned this is a major annoyance to anyone around and generally frowned upon. I was looking on Amazon and saw the Fidget cube that looks like it could fit the bill. Has anyone here ever tried one of these? If not could anyone suggest an item that may work for me? If I don't have something to play with I can't sit still and start to get a little anxious so I was thinking this may be a good solution to help me cope with the belligerent people at work I have to be around sometimes. I would prefer Amazon but I would be willing to look elsewhere if needed.

Would either of these work?
*ring on finger (twist/turn, doesn't make much sound or tend to draw attention)
*polished rock (nice smooth texture, quiet, cheap and usually doesn't break)

If you prefer the clicky feel, a fidget cube takes care of that and the buttons aren't as loud as a pen.

At work I used to stim silently by turning a pen over and over between my fingers or even oscillating it or waving it while held between two fingers.

When I was younger I used to like fidgeting with jacks - like the ones used in a game. You can silently flip them around every which way in your hand or between your fingers: http://www.toyhalloffame.org/sites/www. ... acks_0.png

There are quiet buttons on the fidget but there is also one like a light switch and OMG that's the best bit of the cube and it can be very annoying to people around me so it's an at home toy only. I have worry beads that I can slide along the string. People seem to assume I'm religious and no-one ever asks questions. I do have to modify them a bit because they always have odd numbers of beads which upsets me. I like everything to be even. Just a personal quirk. I also use think rubber bands. I can stretch and twist them. :)

A spinner ring.

I like rubber bands but I'm told it makes people uncomfortable since they inevitably end up on my wrist and I will end up pulling them out really far and snapping my wrist with them repeatedly without even realizing I'm doing it. Would you say the clicks from the cube are quiet enough that loud fans from industrial electronics would make it unnoticeable? Think about a window unit air conditioner on medium to high fan speed and that's about how loud the fans are at work.

I've thought about this one but I'm not supposed to wear jewelry at work. I have to work inside power distribution cabinets sometimes and if a ring were to contact the bus bar, there would be nothing left to put a ring on.

^ That's the kind of information I was looking for. I need something that I can click and I don't want it to be as annoyingly loud to those around me.

Just to be a little more specific, some of the fidget cube buttons are close to pen-click loud, but there are also a couple "silent" click buttons that would definitely be inaudible in the work environment you described (and even in the standard "quiet" office too).
