When I’m in my living room watching tv, I can’t watch tv with meowing in the background, I can’t focus. I put her in my bedroom, but she can meow & claw the bottom of my door. If she making too much noise in the middle of the night, I get angry at her, around 5, I put her out of my room, but she meows & claw the door.
If you keep in mind that all cats have a form of Aspergers then this is going to make sense to you. Cats stim (grooming, meowing, scratching, purring), cats have meltdowns, cats throw tantrums, cats don't like change, and cats love routines. They like it just so, what that just so is, you're just going to have to find out. Aspies love routines but our routines not theirs- if you live with a cat you will have to compromise. Most cats might actually be quite tolerant that we don't get it. Cats can be quite patient. Cats communicate through body language and mimic. This has been very helpful for me in my life with NT's. My mimic reading test scores have actually improved because I started looking at people while they were talking. So learning Catish helped me in RL. Cats talk to us all the time but it just takes them forever to train us. Sometimes the cats will pee on the floor because you moved the chair (i.e. that would be a tantrum/strong language/meltdown). Some cats have sensory issues with us. Humans are loud, talk incessantly, and do annoying things like play music, video games, are on the phone, when they are trying to sleep. Think for "f*cks sake" its like 2pm"! Cats are still nocturnal, by sunset and sundown they would normally go hunting, especially normal house cats that haven't had their instincts and natural behaviour bread out. Cats don't meow for themselves they do this mostly just for us- the cat is complaining because its uncomfortable, stressed, because things just aren't right. Maybe there's another cat in house or outside who is being annoying or was just being down right disrespectful. Cats can be wonderful companions to us and if you think of them as non verbal Catspies, then you will know that if you have met one Catspie you have met one Catspie.
