This sort of sensitivity is common in aspies. NTs usually dont realise exactly how repulsive and worrying an aspie can find something, even the most innocent items. A sibling teasing with something is fairly standard in any family, but a parent really should be more responsive to something this distressing.
Its not merely a matter of taste or opinion, its part of the genuine chemical imbalances that are part and parcel of AS. Hypo/Hypersensitivity to noises, light, sound, and odours can be a blight on an Aspies life. Personally, I have a tendecy towards vomiting if i taste sprays, such as deodorant, perfume, or air freshener. If one is sprayed in a room, Ill often as not be unable to breathe properly, and promptly leave. If it contaminates a food source, like a cup of tea, or a sandwich, then I absolutely cannot stomach it. Thats usually the point where I go ballistic at the sprayer of the offending chemical.
