I loved algebra -- I hope you do too.

Good luck, I can do math easily but I forget the formulas within a week of learning them. However I do really well in english without even reading the lessons.

Congratulations! I was supposed to be in the regular algebra class when I was twelve, but I did really well on this one test so I got moved up to advanced algebra. The first class was really boring since it went so slow, but the advanced algebra class was really fun. I think geometry is my favourite, though.

Thats great many aspies struggle with math. I did reach and pass calculus III in college
but had very little understanding of it and was helped by the fact so many knew even less (grading cure) :)

I love algebra. I taught it to myself in 8th grade and still do it for fun.

Well done. I love maths, I am doing a degree in mathematics at the moment and algebra is my favourite area; especially group and ring theory.

What is pre-algebra anyway? I mean I imagine they are leading you upto the study of algebra but what is the syllabus? Polynomial arithmetic, modular arithmetic, definition of binary operations and relations and things like that?

Oh right, I think we just call that kind of stuff numeracy, or arithmetic* in the UK. In the UK, we don't do any (of what a mathematician would call) algebra until university level. I don't know if it is the same in the US.

*Well, it may be called arithmetic in schools but in university arithmetic (pronounced: arith-muh-tic) tends to mean number theory although I believe it is more of an American term in the context of it being a subject area. The verb arithmetic (pronounced a-rith-meh-tik) (as in arithmetic function) is commonly used however.
