Ok, so, no, this isn't a be all & end all guide to being an adult - and it's not specifically geared towards Autistics. A friend posted it on Facebook and I gave it a watch and thought there was enough basic life advice in it that I'd share it here, because a lot of these "adulting" things that so many young people overlook in their life are the same things ASD people tend to struggle with a whole lot longer than through their 20's. So, posting here for what value it can add to your life.

Edit: Can't find this exact vid on their youtube channel, so the FB link above will have to do.

Its not just a noun, and an adjective, now. Its also a verb?

Like "to office"?

I knew you could "adulterate". But I didn't know that you could "adult".

Yes it is.

There was a record album in 70's called "Pardon My Blooper" that was a compendium of actual broadcast flubs.

It had an actual housewife being interviewed by some radio announcer. She explained that "our family has.... two children, one adult, and..... one adulteress".

(she was trying to coin a way to say "female adult").

But that does make me curious. You strive for the first 21 years of your life to become "an adult". So how is being "adult" ( supposedly a good thing) related in word origins to "adultery" ( a bad thing), and to "adulterate" ( a word that also has a bad connotation)?

"Adult," "adulterate," and ""adultery" all have different origins.

It should be remembered that "nice," in the old days, meant "weak, vacillating." And that "gentle" meant "of noble birth" (think "gentility").

There's been a trend the last few years referring to "adulting" or "how to adult" etc especially by younger millennials on social media because so many people lack basic life skills it's kind of a big deal to them to eat veggies, do laundry, buy proper groceries etc. Older folks find it f*****g ridiculous and for good reason, but hey, at least a lot of young people are realizing they're being idiots and finally deciding to make an effort not to live like teenagers forever.
