If you were setting up your ideal Christmas tree, would it have lights? If so, what kind? You can choose two answers.

I'm curious about this because I know I have a strong preference, and I'm wondering if that's informed by neurodiversity or just by my being persnickety.

At home, we don't have a Christmas tree, but a light-up bonzai-like tree. It has clear Christmas lights on the end of each 'branch' that don't blink or flicker like crazy.
I find the multicoloured, flashing lights quite tacky tbh.

I grew up with all blue lights on the trees, so they still look "right" to me. OTOH, I had a traumatic childhood, so I try to ignore the whole season. I put a white-light tree shape on my house, set a timer, and forget about it.

I don't have xmas trees and haven't for a long time

I saw a tree with cascading lights which were very impressive ( bit like the video )

It's beginning to look like my preference for non-blinking lights is a neurodivergent thing (unsurprising, that), while my choice of only clear lights may be a more personal thing.

DH and I are polar opposites on Christmas tree preference - I love real trees, he loves artificial. That's due to a severe pine allergy on his part, so we go artificial. I love lanky, elegant Noble firs, he prefers a fat, bushy tree. I adore clear/white lights, while he finds multicolored ones more "merry and bright". I want my lights on or off, no blinking. He enjoys a festival of blinking, chasing, fading lights.

We compromised. A spare, elegant Noble fir-style artificial tree with both clear and multicolored lights controlled on separate circuits - when I'm at home the lights are clear and steady, and when I'm out of the room a click of the remote makes them colorful and blinky.

I prefer taking the LED xmas tree lights and stringing them up my white patterned wallpaper walls, which reflects the colors back out into the room. a mix of steady and blinking would be ok, I like the gentle light they put out in the darkness [all other room lights off].

I love the cascading/slowly fading and appearing lights.
I hate blinking ones.

I like both white and coloured lights, but I curently have coloured so I picked that option. I also like slowly twinkling lights, but if they are flashing too dramatically, I feel like they are shouting at me. I also get the pattern of the flashing stuck in my mind, like when a song gets stuck in your head.

I am definately a sensory seeker type. I love all things shiney and glittery, they don't just look nice, they actually improve my mood.

Warm white, non-blinking lights.
