Hi I am very worried. It has not been a easy year for me. I have felt so low because I have not got a girlfriend. I have been banned from many forums. I have had low confidence. I am from the UK and was a member of the student room. I was very nasty on there and said alot of bad things threatening the people on there.

Today I had a call from the police saying they received a complaint and that the matter would not be taken any further as they don't want to press charges but they still need to put my details down on the local police station. What do I do. I don't want to get arrested.

Relax. You won't be arrested. Don't go on that website anymore and the police will forget you exist in 2 weeks.

In time you are likely to get a girlfriend if you join social groups in your area for people with disabilities or mental health problems, or by pursuing an interest and going to classes about it.

If you have no confidence or social skills at all try to get a social worker who can help get you different kinds of help. You can do that by visiting your GP and telling them in detail how bad you feel and asking if you could have a social worker, and keep going to the GP often if you need to, so they know you need that extra help if you do.

I'm not saying that because I think you will be arrested. But just to get a better idea of what's going on. Even if chargers had been pressed, it likey would have just resulted in a cease and desist order.

I've been very depressed all of 2017. A lot of really bad things happened to me. But that doesn't make it right to be a complete jerk to people. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Not a legitimate excuse to threaten people and be a jerk. There really aren't many (if any) legit excuses for that, wanting a girlfriend is definitely not one.

Accept the consequences of your actions and try to learn from them. That may include legal consequences, since you acted out by threatening people. Essentially: suck it up, buttercup.

The people he insulted and threatened aren't going to press charges.

If he's in the U.K., he might get an "official" or unofficial "caution."

He'll be on the police's files, perhaps. But he won't have a criminal record, or get arrested.
