What's your favorite/most effective stim?

Mine is to sit in my rocking chair, rock both the chair and myself while I'm rocking the chair, while singing Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver on loop.

Rocking back and forth whilst rubbing my fingers on the sides of my head.

I don't have only one. I love flapping my hands, clapping, punching my upper legs, scratching my head and rocking the most. Oh also touching soft things like a plush toy or a cat!

Punching and scratching can get ugly though with bruises and blood.

I like to flutter my fingers in front of my eyes especially when there're too many visual stimuli.

I have great difficulty explaining mine, but I rap my fingers on my nose at different intensities depending on how stressed or excited I am. - if it helps I used to get called gerbil in school because it looks vaguely like when a gerbil eats or washes its face

I have other substitutes, such as rubbing my hands together (sometimes until it burns) which I’ve semi-subconsciously learned to do in public as it’s a bit less weird... :?

I'm not sure whether or not some stuff I do really classify as stimming.

I mainly fiddle with my hands.
Its like i grab my thimb with one hand and move it around and switch thumbs. Its hard to explain.
I also like to repeat '1888'
Its sounds right.

When I was young and having a meltdown my Mother would put her hand, palm facing me, in front of my face and slowly lower it, then raise it. Kind of like she was petting the air, flat handed, in front of my face. She would say in probably the best tone and cadence I've ever heard "Caaaaalm." over and over. It was amazingly effective.

That's my go-to when I'm in public or a space that doesn't feel "safe" enough to stim properly. I tug on my hair a lot even at home though.

... also I looove your username. Because yay 8bit, and I have this odd fondness for my birth year being 1987. It just feels like a really perfect sequence of numbers.

Saying one of my favorite phrases, usually about my cat!
