I often get a thing where I feel like somebody pressed a pause button on me. I'll be in the middle of doing something, and then I stop to think for a moment and I go completely still, just staring straight ahead. It will take a few moments for me to be able to move again, and I usually have to start small, like moving my eyes or twitching a finger.

I was wondering if anyone has a similar experience. Is it another form of mini shutdown? I do daydreamy moments as well, but they are usually easier to break out of. This can take at several seconds between when I become aware of it and when I start to be able to move.

(I know someone else described a different kind of experience in another thread, which is what meade me want to ask about this, but I didn't want to steal their thread.)

Yes I get this
I think it has to do with a lot oftensionand disrupted schedule for me- that cannot provoke a full shutdown because of the business of my life. So this is how my mind copes

I experience something similar, particularly when I am exhausted or my brain is overloaded.

I've had these my whole life. Sometimes, I fall over when I have them if I'm standing up at the time. I find it impossible to move during these too.

Thank you everyone for your responses.
It's encouraging to hear that others experience this and I'm not just making it up or being overdramatic. The falling over must be a pain though. :s
