For all of you who have the intj mbti personality, what are the traits that you have that are atypical to an intj?
I know an intj who I suspect is an aspie because he has poor impulse control, shows immediate facial expressions( exaggerated ones) and is open to strangers.

I have no idea how I keep getting stuck with the INTJ type, but it might help to remind the thread patrons what the traits are. Listed below are the traits as I found them and their application in my case (feel free to correct/add).

* Imaginative - I suppose
* Decisive - No; I'm terrible at decision-making
* Ambitious - Not particularly
* Private - Fairly, yes
* Curious - Fairly
* Does not squander energy - I barely have any
* Bookworm - No, unfortunately
* Dis-interested in gossip - Agree
* Idealist & Cynical - Yes
* Sees many social conventions as stupid - Yes

I always test as an INTJ-A.

* Imaginative - Yes.
* Decisive - Not quick to make a decision, but quick to act once the decision is made.
* Ambitious - In some regards.
* Private - Yes.
* Curious - Oh, yes
* Does not squander energy - Economical by necessity
* Bookworm - Very yes.
* Disinterested in gossip - Is there such a thing as "intensely disinterested"?
* Idealist & Cynical - Yes.
* Sees many social conventions as stupid - Yes.

Also, aside from the poor impulse control, the person you describe just sounds like someone who's learned to act.

I've evaluated to INTP/INTJ, and i'm nothing like the guy you described. Lack of impulse control is not an aspie trait.

* Imaginative - Very
* Decisive - Yes. If i make the wrong decision, i can change.
* Ambitious - Sort of. Just want incompetent managers to know their limitations and stop micromanaging.
* Private - Not really, i'm just asocial.
* Curious - Always
* Does not squander energy - I spend it on things i like
* Bookworm - At times, prefer digital media
* Dis-interested in gossip - Totally uninterested.
* Idealist & Cynical - Yes
* Sees many social conventions as stupid - Not stupid, but prefer not to partake.

I'm an INTP but my dad is INTJ and an undiagnosed Aspie.

Some of his traits:
He seems to find it hard to say no to any request. Or he says no initially, but he pretty much always ends up doing what was asked.
His facial expressions can be very intense.
He loves certain songs and plays them over and over to help him relax.

That's about all I can think of now.

Thank you for your response.
How do you know he is an aspie and not just an intj?
Is he also open to strangers?
Are his facial expressions automatic in relation to emotions?

He has aspie traits. He monologues. When he tells a story, he usually speaks with an intense energy, as though he is pushing through towards the end. He gets upset if others interject. I guess he feels very anxious when interrupted. My brother is also INTJ but not autistic and doesn't have the same difficulty with two-way conversation and he doesn't have to use the same level of intensity. I guess he can pick up his train of thought easily enough after being interrupted.
I am similar to my dad in some situations. E.g. if I need to talk to a counsellor or case worker, I need to use a high level of mental energy to explain my situation to them. I have to block off looking at the person and focus completely on what I'm trying to say. Otherwise I can't get my thoughts together to say anything and just go blank.

He isn't particularly open to strangers.

I'm not sure about his facial expressions. I think he often has a very intense facial expression (can look like anger), which reflects the mental energy he has to use to keep on track.

I'm basically a textbook INTJ aspie. I fit the description perfectly, pretty much.
