Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place... if so, please tell me where I should post instead, I'm new here.

I feel like there are certain things I do that people in my household don't have a problem with, but others would consider me rude/ungrateful for. Eg: I always ask my mum at around 4pm what's going to be for dinner that day. She doesn't mind me asking, and the reason I ask is because I enjoy things more when I know about them in advance (I never complain about it or anything like that!), but others would consider me ungrateful. Should I feel guilty about this??

No. It's between your mum. You should only be concerned if she's offended. As for others: if they knew you well, they wouldn't think too much of it.

Um you are entitled to ask whats for dinner.

Don't mind the other humans they can struggle to understand things and be rational. They can't help it.

The type of societal pressures that I've faced were the pressures to wear the family name which happens to be a British one and the pressures to be the typical Anglo-Canadian because I live in British Columbia. I had to hide that I prefer Germany over Britain and that I'm a war supporter, especially around Remembrance Day. I was also putting on a fake English accent because I thought my real voice sounded horrible. My mum got on my case about the whole England thing 9 years ago in October. If she knew what I was hiding, she wouldn't have got on my case. I knew that if I dropped the England act, my true colours would show and my mum would try to disown me and that's exactly what happened two years ago, February.

Oh dear! If she disowned you, then that's her fault, not yours.

And I do every day, and a lot of times it turns out to be something I really enjoy.
