Autistic heads of states of countries?

Many scientists, artists, and musicians, even actors, are either likely aspies/HFAs or are actually known diagnosed aspies (like Darryl Hannah).

Politicians not so much.

I think that Trump could likely be ADHD (fellow entrepreneur Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Records, is officially ADHD).

Have heard theories about just about every president of the US being aspie (Lincoln, Nixon, and even Reagan), but I seriously doubt that any of those were. Jimmy Carter is a good model for what an aspie president would look like if we ever saw one, but I couldnt armchair diagnose even him for sure as actually being aspie.

At this moment I dont know of any head of state of a major country who strikes me as being a likely aspie, or HFA person.

Surely Trump would be a narcissist, not ASD? He's got that grandiosity, the constant need to state how great he is, the lack of concern or remorse for how his behaviour affects others. (This is not intended as an attack on Trump, just how I see his personality)

I doubt there are any state leaders in the modern era with ASD. The condition doesn't seem compatible with those kinds of pressures.

To me, Nixon had at least some Aspergian tendencies.

Experts believe Abraham Lincoln had Asperger's syndrome. If that's he case, he was probably the best President to serve the United States.

I reckon it would have been easier for an aspergian to be a political leader in the old days, before TV and social media. There was less intense scrutiny of their lives, and less expectation for instant, on-camera reactions.

It was believed Thomas Jefferson had Asperger's, but I'm not so certain about that.

As a general rule, I don't think most politicians have ASDs. Most people with Asperger's would be fatigued at the amount of social preening politics requires. I know I wouldn't have the stomach for it.

No one suggests that "most politicians have autism" because 98.5 percent of humans in general don't have autism. The question is "do ANY politicians have autism?". I agree that none, or only next to none have autism because of the reasons you said: autistics don't have the required social instincts.

There was a fad of NON experts claiming Lincoln as an aspie, just like there was a fad of gays claiming Lincoln as one of their own. Don't know of any actual "experts" who thinks that Lincoln (or Jefferson) were aspie.
