Does anyone find any comfort in pacing the floor. It is something I have been doing for years. I find sometimes an easy way to unwind or calm down is to listen to music (on headphones) and pace the floor.

I pace in circles in my room.

Yes, I pace a lot. Especially when talking on the phone or waiting for a bus.

I've found myself doing that in recent years, though I never used to. It's partly voluntary but I don't remember deciding to do it. Don't know if it's to reduce stress or just a wise way of preventing deep vein thrombosis, as I tend to otherwise sit very still for hours. I don't see myself as being under much stress these days.

I paced more when I was younger. I do/did it due to anxiousness or because I was thinking about something.

Yes; I would go so far as to say that it is one of my main forms of stimming. I've done it for as long as I can remember, and if I'm particularly agitated, I will be on my tip-toes, hand flapping and talking to myself as I go round and round in tight anti-clockwise circles.

I do it less if I can get out for a nice walk in the park or countryside - the trains of thought are much the same and I often have little awareness of my surroundings (and have to be careful not to talk to myself out loud!), but the de-stressing effect is much the same.

I've noticed that I start pacing when I'm upset. That's mostly the only time I do it.
