I have two clear memories from under a year of age. Apparently, most people don't have memories from that age, or much at all from childhood (Which explains the way most people talk to young children), I also have many memories from under six.

Which is kind of odd because I have memory issues.

Anyway, I want to know if this is common for autistic people.

If you want to know, I remember crawling behind my mother down a white hall, and my baptism.

I have some vague memories from when I was a toddler----though not an infant under 1 year of age. Perhaps, I was 2 years old.

I remember sitting in my stroller, looking at the letters at my feet (and knowing what the letters were).

I remember listening to the Four Seasons on the radio.

I remember taking a bath in the sink, and not feeling very good about it.

I remember the constant smell of vomit.

I remember always being fearful.

My toddlerhood wasn't really happy.

The farthest back I can remember is exactly one year old. I was given a cake for my birthday but no fork (it was one of those baby smash cake things). I remember very clearly thinking about why my mom didn’t give me a fork. It was interesting because I realize babies don’t really think in words or pictures; I thought more in abstract feelings with maybe a vague image of a fork. I was told I got really annoyed and constantly kept wining for someone to clean my hands. I’ve always had a pretty decent memory.

How are you kraftie :D ? I haven’t seen you here in a while.^^^^

I can't easily tag memories by age, so I'm not certain. I remember being toilet-trained, which happened when I was a little over one and a half, so that might be the earliest. I have another old memory from when I was two of a nun asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up and me saying, in a panic, "Jesus."

Hi Stampy.

I’m doing well, thanks.

I bet you’re doing great in school.

I remember toilet training, too. I also remember not knowing why.

I remember going to the hospital and looking through the window at the new born baby -- my younger brother who is approximately 1 1/2 years younger than me.

Most people do have memories of childhood. It's just uncommon to have memories of the first 2-3 years of life.

I don't really have many memories of being a baby at all. My mum says I had a pacifier a lot up until I was 3 but I literally have no memories of sucking a pacifier whatsoever.

I have 1 memory of being in my cot. And I have 1 memory of sitting in my pushchair (stroller).

If I sit and think real hard, I can sort of conjure up very vague 1-second memories of being a baby, but even then I'm not sure if my brain made them up or not.

I can remember back to about 7 or 8 months old. The memory of 8 months old is clear but the one of 7 months old is less so.

Probably 2, possibly 3 years old. Some are understandably memorable, most are unremarkable.

I’ve heard, and as another pointed out, it’s not common to remember before this time period, though I’m not sure when most do.

I have some memories from when I was around 4 (a kindergarden, a kayaking trip, a pastry at my fourth birthday, etc) but not much earlier.

My dad had a memory from when he was less than 1 though: he told me he remembered assuming he was seeing with his mouth and then being surprised when he realized he was seeing with his eyes.

I have a still-image memory of getting my head stuck under a fish tank when I was young enough that I couldn't walk yet - don't know if I was even crawling yet. I did it by scooting along the floor backward.

I distinctly remember helping stick paw print stickers on the walls of my brother's room before he was born (he's two years and one month younger than me). I also remember seeing my mom holding him in the hospital, and handing my mom a present (although I don't remember what it was).

The farthest back from what I can remember is when I was 3 years old back in 2001. It was more of a dark time. My mom took me with her to run some errands. After we left the store to go to one more place, I noticed in the distance that the clouds were very dark and ominous. She had to drive us to a gas station that was close to our house which is where she drove us into those stormy clouds. When we got to the gas station in the storm when I left the vehicle to hold my mom's hand, the clouds are dark, it was raining really hard and the wind was so strong that I could have been blown away. Thankfully, I had enough weight to keep myself down even when my mom was holding my hand when we were walking into the building at the gas station.

After we left the gas station, it was practically nighttime the clouds were still very dark even though it was during the day. When we got home, we ran inside it was so windy. I didn't really remember anything else after that. I didn't know what or why the clouds were dark and why it was so windy, but after that event, it came in the history books that there was a tornado outbreak that day. But I didn't know about it till I got older and that was the first time that I would remember anything that young.

That post is just disturbing. And no, I only have two memories from under one.

I remember of my mother on one specific day when I was less then one year old. I was feeling that my mum was not feeling as usual, I remember a lot of things on that day. Once I told my mum about that day, she said it was the day her farther died.

I remember when there were new green furniture in my bedroom, also around one year old.

And I have a lot of vivid memories before 4 year old.

Yes, I have a number of very early memories. I'd always assume it was autism-related, as many others on the spectrum whom I've met have especially long and detailed memories. I don't know about any scientific research I could draw on to corroborate this idea, though.

My earliest memory which I can date for certain is visiting my great grandfather at his nursing home in Troon, Ayrshire. There was only one occasion in my life when I ever saw him, as he died not long afterwards. Fortunately there were photographs taken, and I can calculate from the date written on them that I would have been seven months old.

I also have early memories of waking up during the night in a travel cot and feeling very distressed at the sense of being trapped. I outgrew travel cots quite quickly, so these memories should date from when I was roughly a year old.
